I'm not native to the mid-atlantic. What should I expect from the local mountains here? I grew up in Vermont boarding Stowe and Jay, and just moved here from Cali where I hit up Mammoth alot. I realize the mountains here are not the same, but how long are the runs, do they get any pow days and are they super crowded on weekends? Just trying to temper expectations...

No your standards are just fine it is the small ass mountains that are messed up around here. I go out west four weeks a year at least to board and to the alps for two if I can make it. Every where is packed around here on the weekend it is what it is. Wisp is not to bad on the weekday but it is 3 hours away and showshoe is 4 plus for me. I went to snowshoe when it was at least knee deep and it was not to tracked out at the end of the day and well worth the drive. For what you can get around here the local places are ok if you like park and freestyle boarding, if you are looking to freeride snowshoe kind of or head out west. I have the most fun when I ride in groups around here as the runs are so short.

Snowshoe Longest run, 1.5 miles
Wisp Longest run, 7200 feet
Whitetail Longest run, 4900 feet
