Default Chestnut Mountain set to open Nov. 29

Just seen it on their Facebook for those in the midwest. Also offering $20 lift tickets for the early season thru Dec. 13. If it is worth the drive my season may start sooner than I thought, stoked!

not sure where you normally board but my normal hill is Devils head. And I would say Chestnut is a slightly smaller DH. Not too bad for Illinois though!

I went on opening day. Conditions were pretty good but I'm worried what this warmup is going to do. They planned to have the place fully open this Friday, but I wouldn't be surprised if that gets pushed back due to weather.

Friday was nice - minimal lines and plenty of runs open. Def. worth $20. After 5 pm, the far lift was open without a wait for the rest of the night.

I'm seeing rain today and tomorrow in Galena, I was planning on going Sunday. Might have to reconsider, later this week well see… I'm sure they will be making snow around the clock, temps are supposed to cold later in the week and weekend!

I went yesterday and they closed early at 4:30. Talked with a skiier on the lift and he said they were going to be closed the rest of the week and then reopen on Friday or Saturday depending on how much snow they are able to make the rest of the week with the the rain and high temps...

Conditions were good considering it was warmer and I honestly expecting like a WROD and brown sides with springlike snow but even though the snow was slower I was amazed by the amount of snowcover-even tho some areas were thin like almost everything was covered and packed well so it did up the stoke even if it is all manmade.

They had one lift open Village Quad and most of the runs were open as well. Were pretty well groomed and had good cover. Eagle, the black run they usually have the moguls on was open and mogul-free but looked super thin and most people that were hitting it were just straightlining it because of the low depth on thr sides.

Park closed but had some features on Blackhawk and Old Main a couple rails and like two jumplines.

It started raining steady about 3:30-4 and shit was getting icey so I took a few more runs and called it a day. Not a bad first time out this early in our season.

Conditions are pretty damn sweet at GP for this time of year. 4+ inches fell last night with more on the way today
