Wilmot sold to Vail resorts.

An abundance of sources have said that a deal has been made for the Chicago ski area, Wilmot mtn will soon be operated by Vail resorts.
The owners of Wilmot are going through a divorce and must find it easier to divvy up a boat load of cash than a ski hill.
Good riddens. That place hasn't given anything back to the skiers in years.
40year old lifts. Inadequate snow making. Shortage of grooming. And lack of knowledge to use the groomers.

Here's to better things.

Also they'll likely bring in they're own retail which will likely hurt the lbs.bummer.

Agreed this is good news. For all its faults they have great instructors. Lots of memories there for me and my kids. Their retail will be a welcome addition....I'm from the Illinois side and I can't think of an LBS worth going to besides Windward.

How is Wilmot? My friend told me that the mountain was pretty tiny with limited trails, but I would really love to go there rather than an additional 3 hours north to Wisconsin in Portage or something.
