Hey I'm from Ohio and just wanted to start a thread where people who love to snowboard like I do can just chill and talk. feel free to post anything, what you ride, where, anything
Been riding there 17 years now. Back when we had a pipe at the top of shredder, before it was changed and added to the side, and before it was taken out. (Wasn't too happy about that) Not sure of your guys ages, I'm 31, but we weren't allowed to ride at Boston Mills back in the day, only at Brandywine. I live in the Stow/Kent area so I'm pretty close to you!
Bottom right, ignore the pro bs, it was just the age division I guess, me on the left with the number 4 up, my buddy Jonathan on the right in plaid, you're welcome to come ride with us anytime! Always cool to meet new people. Don't forget, October 16th is the rail jam, I hear they are doing a release of some new ski/board movie as well right afterwards.
I'm an old school carver and big method kinda guy. So I ride a Arbor Nightrain 161, a Forum Symbol 163, Rome Anthem 166, Igneous 168-Custom built like a Burton Supermodel, Burton Supermodel 181 for rare occasions.
Union Force Bindings
Forum Kicker SLR's
Mostly I ride alone in the AM or late night. If I go out with others I'm usually filming your shooting stills. So if you can "bring it" I'm your cameraman. Otherwise it wouldn't take long to show you around the place.
and Suburbanblend, That's sick man. I found one for around campus becasue I'm more about urban shit, i have like an aversion to rails in parks becuase that's the only time I seem to get hurt, even if they are easier lol
Yeah dude, I was going to go to that. That's pretty sweet that you've been around that long. I've been there the past 6 years. I'm debating on getting a season pass though this year, becuase idk how much I'll go with school and all.
Usually a 3 obstacle event, last year was 3 flat tables, next to a straight rail, next to a t-box type thing rail. 3 separate drop-ins. I didn't know about the one in Mentor till it was too late The movie after is called Eye Trip, the preview looks pretty sick. Would be awesome to see you guys out there.
that video is dope status man. I'm in the background of one of the shots, I didn't get on the rail in the vid hahaha, i had a broken wrist so i was goin super vanilla.
Cool man, I broke my wrist in 3 places at the open house 2 years ago. Didn't even realize how bad it was till some kid behind me in line pointed it out. It was the year of those god-awful orange shirts they handed out, lol.
I'm not super into rails, getting better at them, but every time I drive by campus I think about jibbing that giant painted stone. I don't know where to ride in from, but I could bring my camera and claim it's for a magazine if campus security gets pissy
Kent alum/former resident... I'll just throw out that 7springs is a do-able day trip too for something different. I've done it before when I lived there. Its about 2hrs straight down I-76. Pretty nice parks.
If you really like the urban stuff, you could always build a little kicker on the hill in front of kent hall. Or go ride the zamboni poop in the parking lot behind the ice area.
yeah man, I been scoutin spots around campus, I got some pretty damn good ones that will be easy to hit, and kent hall is actually one of the ones i had already. haha
hahah I went to the snowboard cross thing to. It was a little sketchy but fun. Pretty bummed that I have to miss the rail jam. Is there anything fun to do on the sunday?
OHeazt, I think that there's absolutely nothing for that Sunday, in fact by then, most of that shit will be sold out becuase of the deals. lol. sorry bud, i only go to browse and get my season pass
I am pretty serious with photography, if we get a sunny day we can easily do some stuff like that at bm/bw, same with kent state if you do some urban stuff, I just can't do the multiple shots (sequencing) at night like in the daytime. I'll have to go through some photo's, got some sick stuff at the Kilted Yak Big Air event.
I really wish they would put in another pipe at BMBW, I had moved to florida a for a few years, came back and it was gone. Total bummer, it's my favorite discipline to ride too
OHeatz, not too much going on Sunday unfortunately. Grab some free popcorn and soda (or 2 dollar draft beer) and take a chairlift ride, haha.
Probably middle of the month, this rain right now is probably taking a big toll on the snow they already made.
