he's talking about the Crystal Mtn trip.
I have Capita's DoA on my laptop, maybe some other stuff too, also gonna pick up Ransack and TB20 but we will not have time to watch everything.

I think I'm the only Lansing guy here so maybe no one else will care but I just found out today that they're building a "tubing and snowboarding complex" here at Hawk Island park, complete with tow ropes.
No idea yet what this entails, my guess is some rails and boxes maybe but damn I'm stoked. Hawk Island is like $3 to get in and would be perfect for after work short sessions.

Nice find man! I live in Howell so I wouldn't be opposed to making the 20 minute drive over to Lansing to check this out. I wonder if they are going to have lights. Either way; I see a Saturday morning trip in my near future.

Good point, I didnt think about lights.
I bet they will, especially if they're investing in tow ropes.

I'm still kind of piecing together what I can here. I found the blog of the County Commissioner for Ingham County (where Lansing is) and these are the posts relating to this snowboarding hill; Schor Report: Ingham County Commission Blog: Snowboarding Hill
What I've gleaned so far; * Modern Skate and Surf pushed for this and is finding as many features to add at little to no cost to the county. Grind rails, fun boxes, flat rails, round rails, and "hips". Whatever that is. * There will be beginner, intermediate, and advanced snow board runs. * There will be some fees to use the hill but I don't know the pricing structure yet. Equipment rental will be available. * There will be snow making quipment. (WHAT!!???)

Me too Dave and it's right under my nose!
I guess it's only the second public snowboarding hill in the country. They're working with Modern Skate and the MSU snowboard club to get as much equipment donated to lessen the overall cost of this. He mentions "lifts" in the blog but I'm certain he's referring to tow ropes instead of chair lifts. I'm very curious about the pricing structure. I go to Hawk Island and I've seen what I think is this project. It's not very high and I have to imagine it's basically just a park, not a trails or steep hills kinda thing.

From the Hawk Island facebook page:
We have worked on the concept for 2 years and will be launching public information very soon. We are doing this just like the Ranney Skatepark which was our project that we launched in 1998. This is one of the first Urban Snowparks in the US and I am happy to get you guys more details. Zak Taylor, Verizon Wireless MGR is coordinating social networing including FB page. We have had to hold info because of a couple of unconfirmed details but that is being resolved right now. Big NEWS coming. I have all the current information including who in the industry like Burton will be involved. That's right. Burton, Vans, Quiksilver all IN since talks began last winter. George, Modern Skate and Surf, and I have been working on the concept since Winter 2009 - contact me directly if you want to be involved. That's updated as of 57 minutes ago. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hawk-...4394052?ref=ts
