Leo - go to Walgreen's and get one of those back pad things where it is a disposable wrap with some sort of heating stones or something built inside.

I pulled a muscle in my back once (lifting up a 5 gallon bucket of salt water to do a water change on an aquarium... made me feel like an old man when I pulled it and I was laying on the floor face down because every other position hurt).

I bought a pack of these (come in 3 packs I believe), you open it up and the heating stones start to activate and you just wrap it around wherever it hurts... heat last about 7-8 hours.


BTW - I think I'll be riding for the first time starting next week... A-basin and Loveland have been open for a few weeks, and Keystone opens up on the 5th I believe. BOOM!

Think these back yard sesh's will get you into mid-season form earlier than usual once the snow comes?

What do you guys think I should expect on my first time on the hill this season? It will be my second season, my first full season. Last year I started after Christmas. Between ankle and no snow I didn't get on snow again until mid-January and then got out regularly.

My last time was in March on mash potato day at Holly (the time Dave and some guys were there).

Sooo, I dunno how much my body will remember and if I'm starting three steps behind or if it's like riding a bike.

damn this thread is exploding. i leave for two weeks and i'm ten frickin' pages behind! just had sum knee surgery 3 weeks ago. had a chunk of bone removed the size of my thumb so i won't be boarding before December 1st even if the snows there. i'm recovering fast though, already walking and biking! anyway, leo i see u already got a shitload of people for crystal. if you've capped, lemme know and i'll figure out some separate accomodations. otherwise, i'll paypal you. if ur full, no worries, i realize i'm slow!

Yes, even though the powderpak is not like riding real snow, a box is a box and a rail is a rail. The approach is different, but once you're on it, you're on it. I think I landed more frontside boardslides yesterday than I did all last year, so that is already an improvement that I'm confident will translate to on-snow conditions.

It is kind of like riding a bike, but not entirely. The first few years when I would only snowboard a few times each winter, it would take a day or so to feel confident again. Now, you might catch an edge here or there but for the most part probably you will not feel like a total noob, but you will definitely be thinking "Ummm... wasn't I better than this last year???"

I'm kinda concerned I'll be jarred into reality since my last time out was on that slow slush and I wonder if I was handling things so well because the snow was slower.

12 people is good. I just wanted to keep it under 15. So you'll be last in.

So we might end up with 15 when all is said and done. There are 3 people that are in limbo and we'll just leave it open for them.

Alright folks! We have our group!!! Ken and Jenna are good for the money so they are as good as paid too. I just need to meet Ken up and tell Jenna how much she needs to pay. I'm going to wait until a couple weeks before our meet until I collect the rest of the payments.

If 12 people holds up, we all pay $42. It's actually $41.6666667, but I'm not going through that headache so hope you don't mind me rounding up haha. Ron, David, and I will be getting an $8 refund since we all paid $50.

I CAN'T EFFIN WAIT NOW! This is going to be so fun.

And Jesse, we won't have a problem fitting you in the cabin. There's a finished basement and large living room.

UPDATE

So we have more friends (co-workers) that are interested in attending our meet now. However, they are in limbo about it. Ron is now going to look into getting a second smaller cabin. This won't affect our pay as I already cut it off at the 12. Just letting you know because our roster for our cabin might change. This will be a case of people swapping out for one another. For example, Ron and Jenna might stay in the other cabin and two of the limbo people would stay with us.

So guys, it looks like there's going to be a rail jam in Lansing at Hawk Island on Saturday, November 12th from noon-5pm

We're still piecing stuff together and I just heard about it last night.

It's not officially announced yet, these guys seem to like to wait an ungodly amount of time before going public with stuff but I wanted you all to know in case anyone was interested.

They're bringing in snow from a number of ice arenas and the city donated a dump truck to haul the snow so there will be plenty of it. Obviously more snow than a pre-season rail jam in Lansing has ever seen.
