yea that was pretty dope. i've been to nubs in the mid of winter and its comparable to either of the boynes. their superpipe was cool when they had it. i think it was the biggest superpipe in the midwest at the time. not that i was any good in it, but it was kinda cool. i don't think they have the elev that either of the boynes have but its an all around good mountain. maybe a little too many flats/green runs in the back if i remember correctly. their park setup is pretty legit.

Here I was really looking forward to the start of this season because I *thought* I started halfway through last year but it looks like my first time doing turns will be 9 whopping days earlier than last year.

Sabatoa we had a slightly-earlier-than-average start last year - even the podunk ski areas like Mt. Holly and Pine Knob were open Thanksgiving weekend. In a good year, these joints will open earlier than Thanksgiving and that gives the impression of a longer season.
Seems to me like the first week of December is pretty much what to expect and they target Thanksgiving optimistically, knowing it will be hit or miss. So we're a little bit late this year although Boyne was open last weekend. Typically, the big resorts don't open until Thanksgiving either way though, because they depend so much more on overnight guests/tourism. Keep in mind that unless we have a br00tal spring, most of the bigger places should be open through the first weekend in April.

Crystal Mountain Meet-up – December 17 We're doing a meetup. I think all the cabin space is booked but Leo's in charge of that. You're more than welcome to meet up w/us and if there's no more room in the cabins and you need a place to stay we can probably point you in the right direction. We've actually got a few cool things lined up that I am not yet allowed to mention, but trust me it will be awesome even if you can only make it for Saturday during the day it should be a great event.

Tofu, we are looking into getting another two small cabins since everyone was fine with paying $50. So far, we have 15 people confirmed. We have a couple more pending. Each of the small cabins (2) will sleep 4 people. So we are pretty booked at a comfortable level.
Ron is going to find out about the extra cabins today so I'll keep you posted. You are more than welcome, as David said, to ride with us. Heck, come party with us after riding too. Maybe you can even stay at the same cabins. Crystal Adventures Lodging Again, we might have room for ya. Just stay tuned. |
