Mt Holly is saying they have a few features in small park. Keeping an eye on weather possibly later this week like Thursday I might be able to ride.

Alpine Valley Holding Co. owns the following:

• Alpine Valley Michigan
• Alpine Valley Wisconsin
• Bittersweet Michigan
• Devil's Head Wisconsin
• Mt. Holly Michigan
• Pine Knob Michigan

I am not sure it is that much of a conspiracy theory, although it's possible. I think it is probably simpler than that: there are 4 ski hills in metro-Detroit, 3 of them are owned by the same company and the other one (Brighton) leaves a lot to be desired, so AVHCo can act like a de facto monopoly since there's not any substantial competition. This means they charge whatever they can get away with, and have no real incentive to improve their offerings because where else are you going to ride? Nowhere.

Yea, that part is definitely true. But my question is, are they using these profits to improve their other bigger resorts while never improving ours?

We'll just have to vote with our dollars. I went to Holly all of twice last season. Everything else was up north.

Yeah. We're going up north again this weekend. Cab had like $12 all day tickets online for Christmas day.

No way to know for sure without checking out the other places for comparison AVHC is a privately held company so there's no public financials on them and really no way to tell what they're doing with the money.
