Alright everyone since Summer is over, fall has just begun and we've already had our first rail jam of the year, it's time to start a new thread for the 10/11 winter.

Last year we had the "Southeast" michigan thread, but I think we should do all of Michigan. Sure, most of population lives in S/E michigan but we all ride the same resorts in the LP and even the UP if we get a chance, so we should have one thread to bring everyone together.

Cheers everyone we're probably only like 70 days from open resorts!

Nubs is looking pretty damned good for coverage on the frontside. Website doesn't say anything about opening tho.

Yeah the lady on the phone today said they "technically" should be open by noon tomorrow but probably more likely the weekend. I'm trying to maximize my season pass this year so I'll go up as soon as I can haha.

Damn, Nubs is looking good tho… I actually prefer it there on slower days. :)

May seem asinine, but debating possibly heading up to Holly Sunday for a day trip. Bit of a haul for me, but may be worth it to get some early season turns. Will be keeping an eye on here and on the weather to see what conditions look like. If anyone is looking to ride Sunday, let me know!!

OK,… Nubs is saying they'll be open Thursday thru Sun. 2 Lifts, 2 runs.

Sab,.. Have fun @ Highlands. Kinda doubt I'll man up enough for an overnighter Sat/Sun. I'd sure like to go & pick up my pass tho! >:)

If I hit Holly this weekend I'll look for Leo!

They say how much would be open?

Yeah, I did the whole "Drive 4 hours to ride 1.5 runs at Nub's" last winter, but only because there were no other options and the long-term outlook was dismal. Did the same thing the following week to Caberfae for like, 3 runs open, because same. Turns out the long-term outlook was in-fact dismal as predicted, and the local hills didn't re-open until nearly Christmas, so it turned out to be "worth it" but sweet baby jesus I hope I don't have to do that shit again, for a while at least.

I could still be persuaded to Caberfae on Friday (if they open, depending on coverage) but otherwise it's looking like Mt Holly.

Unless anyone wants to drive to Holiday Valley NY...

(kidding, sort of)

How far's that drive? >:)

;)

I think it's a little over 5h from metro-Detroit which really isn't awful.

What I think is a show-stopper for me is that my drive home would be minimum 7.5 -- so trying to get there on Friday and leave on Saturday afternoon to be home by ~midnight... even though I think they have much more snow, it's too much driving for not enough slope time. I'll drive that far, if I can get 3 days on the slopes, or if conditions will be all-time, but not for ordinary early-season shit.

Caberfae is NOT opening this weekend. They couldn't fire the guns last night.

"A Thanksgiving Weekend opening is not in the cards this year as we just don't have enough snow to ski and ride on. We had great production when the snow machines were on, but we were limited by the conditions.

The snow machines ran for two consecutive nights, both Sunday and Monday night. However, we were not able to get them started back up last night as the temperatures just didn't get cold enough.

The good news is that we have a great start after only about 28 hours of snowmaking. We'll keep an eye on the weather, and work to get the slopes open as soon as we possibly can.

In the mean time, have a great Thanksgiving and we hope to see you on our slopes very soon. "
