It's really strange how fast the last winter flew by.

Yeah, the poor season conditions didn't help either... What's everyone up to for summer? I picked up a second job and am looking forward to some camping trips and days on the lake!

Saving up my pennies for a season pass. I'm hoping to get out for a few trips this summer. Toronto maybe, NYC. Something to get out of town.

I do a lot of bike riding in the summer, so there's that.

I really wanted to get a sportsbike, a Suzuki SV650 or a Ninja but the finances didn't work out. I thought for sure it was going to happen too.

...thought it was kinda funny reading this! (...funny, ironic, depressing as all hell, whatever) Just B'cuz "I" was also hoping this would be the spring I would get back on a "Bike" & get my Harley FatBoy Custom!! Same reason as you for why I didn't,.. finances didn't come together! ...AND, to make matters much worse,.. I recently attended a local Trek Demo day and completely "ruined" my mountain bike enjoyment with my $780 REI Novaro 29'er by demoing a couple of 2 & 5K bikes!!!!!

MY MOUNTAIN BIKE TOTALLY SUCKS IN COMPARISON!!!!!! Hell, during my demo rides I even "passed" a few people on the climbs!! That never happens!!! So now,..

I want,.. a new -
* True twin Snowboard
* Harley Davidson
* $5K Mountain Bike

(...anybody know what the Mega Million's Numbers are for tomorrow?????)

haha, that's an expensive wish list.

I was in some shop here in East Lansing and saw some bikes in that price range. I couldn't (and still can't) imagine spending that much on a bike. I just don't get it.

...then again I was raised on $100 bikes from Meijer so...

I just bought a new mountain bike have been meaning to start riding more frequently and it was waaaay overdue to upgrade my 1996 GT Karakoram.

I didn't ride any $5k bikes because I know that would ruin my life

I ended up getting last year's 2011 GT Avalanche X (MSRP $1600) for $850. It is a long-travel (140mm front shock) 26er with a decent drivetrain spec, SRAM X7 2x9 with bashguard, basically it is an "all mountain" bike instead of cross-country. That fork is so rad, I am going to get stupid on it already trying to take lines that I'd never do on my old bike

Coolest thing though is on my first ride I ran in to some random bike dudes, all kitted out in their shop jerseys riding 'biker' bikes like a Yeti and a Bianchi. They both thought this rig was a custom build

Do you really see/feel a big difference between this bike and one I might buy for $200?
