BIRMINGHAM RAIL JAM THIS SATURDAY

Fourth year in a row, snow in September, should be a good time even as a spectator event, if you need to convince the wife or GF, this event typically coincides with a big art fair/festival in Birmingham so it's a family friendly event not just a bunch of snowboarders.

PARX will be providing the drops & features since the O-Park is out.

Paralyzed snowboarder loses lawsuit against Boyne | Lansing State Journal | lansingstatejournal.com

BOYNE FALLS — A man paralyzed while snowboarding at Boyne Mountain Ski Resort has failed to persuade the state appeals court to reinstate his lawsuit.

Patrick N. Anderson says a certain jump was not obvious before he was badly injured in Boyne’s terrain park. His expert says the jump should have been constructed in a safer way.

But the appeals court pointed to a state law and ruled in favor of Boyne. The law grants immunity to ski area operators and says skiers and snowboarders know there are dangers when they hit the slopes.

The court says Anderson would have seen the jump if he heeded all signs and warnings.

the jump was IN THE TERRAIN PARK. If he didn't see it, it was his own damn fault. Sorry bro got paralyzed, but... fuckin' gapers.

I'm trying to think if I encountered what he ran into but since I don't know the year it happened, who knows.

I do know that at Highlands last season I dropped into their park (or whatever it was) thinking it was a boardercross. So I'm hauling ass down the run and I realize at the last minute that I'm rushing towards a jump. I slowed down enough to harmlessly wash out but had I hit it at full speed I would'a been sky high. hahaha

Having said all that, it was obvious as I entered the run that it was something more dangerous, they made it clear it was for advanced riders. I just guessed wrong on what type of advanced run it was and that was my fault for assuming.

Went to a little indoor snowboard park in Fenton called misfit labs. To be honest it was awful but to be able to ride my board again was awesome. Looking forward to what looks like an early winter

yeah it is not much but it is basically a "training" facility, a few jibs that rotate in and out and then there's the foam pit which is really only good if you're good enough to go upside down or corked spins.

There may be some changes coming to that place I am not sure I'm at liberty to disclose though.
