I guess one of their water lines burst and yeah, created a giant sink hole under the lift tower. I'm surprised that's possible given how cold it has been but I guess that water is probably pressurized and if the pipe/hose bursts a lot of flow could happen in a pretty short amount of time.

Actually, thinking about it, if the pipe was deeper than about 2-3 feet, it probably wasn't in frozen ground anyway! It's not like we get permafrost up there!
