Yeah, if you ask anyone that has been there they all seem to have loved it. I want it to be re-opened because it's 5 mins from my mother in-law's house. My wife broke her leg on Awful Awful when she raced back in the day.

Wow.
Do you guys know how long the longest trail was? I'm going to start searching for an old trail map. I'd so hike it. ..well, you know. If I lived there, wasn't busted up, yada.

Couldn't tell you. I haven't been there personally since I was a kid.
Off the top of my head, however, I remember reading something in the local paper up there not long ago that there was some sort of volunteer effort to clean up some of the runs. |

![]() Thor at Crystal looks steeper and a bit longer. Awful Awful kind of looks like Challenger or K2 at Highlands.

Hard to say, like I said I know nothing about it personally and am just going off the recollections of a 65-year-old woman who skied there 25-30 years ago! Though, I do know that pictures like that can be deceiving. lol
There's got to be someone here with firsthand knowledge of it I imagine. |

Welp, guess that's been covered. That pic, hoo boy was it really that small of a resort? If so I see why they're gone. 5/6 runs plus terrain park. Yeah, it's called Cannonsburg.

I actually think that was the projected redesign. I may be wrong, but if you look at that picture and the satellite of the place, it seems there were more runs originally. Again, I don't know for sure.
Yeah looked at the satellite map again on it, looks like there were at least a couple of more chairs on the back side of that and several more runs. Last edited by trapper; 02-11-2013 at 01:25 PM. |

I know what you mean by how it looks, but everyone claims it's steep. Slope degrees are usually pretty hard to tell in pictures. I went down Lenin and Marx at Big Sky last year and I can never find pictures that do it justice when I try to explain how steep it felt to people. It's the runs just to the left of the ridge in the middle of the picture...

The Loaf is hikeable but from what I hear the locals and in particular the Sheriffs up there frown on that sort of trespassing. It's on my list of places to poach. What's a trespassing ticket cost these days, anyways? Can't be much more than a lift ticket to Boyne
