Last year Mt. Holly and Pine Knob both closed on March 10. Alpine Valley was maybe a week earlier than that but honestly they were done by late February. Up north got killed last year, most resorts also done by March 20. In an average/decent year they can remain partially open until April 1. Boyne usually reopens for a weekend mid-April with a fun ski/golf combo pack for like $40 or something ridiculously cheap.
I don't think anyone's making snow anymore. Even the places down here, usually have plenty of snow when they close, it's just a matter of people stop skiing and snowboarding, and start thinking about biking, boating, barbecuing, etc. Two years ago PK shut down with 100% of slopes open and 36" base everywhere. It was sad to drive past it and see how much snow was just untouched. |

It's so strange to watch the wind down from the side lines.
I told my wife she better get out there this weekend because her opportunities are going to vanish quickly.

I'm already banking on everyone down here being closed when I get back from CO on March 11.
Going up to Crystal that weekend of March 15, and pessimistically thinking that will be this season's last hurrah. If anyone is open the weekend of the 30th I might swing a day trip just for shits and grins, but it's almost over before ya know it.

after 4 days in Colorado, you won't care that they are closed. LOL!!!
I took my family last Sunday to Perfect North in Indiana. My son ( almost 2) slid down the kid zone for about 30 mins. Then I took the family tubing. I couldnt even bring my self to take the board out of the bag and ride with my Bro in Law. I am ready to move to the Front Range. |

I have decided that I could live where it is never above 40 degrees, if it snowed 12" per week and I lived within an hour of a ski lift.
I have raced pro MX, 125 shifter karts, Wera Road race motorcycles, usac sprint cars, and Scca formula renault and I didn't look forward to anyof them as much as I look forward to time in the mountains. |
