Yep - living up here surrounded by trees and cold winters haha

Looks like there is a Summit in the area we'll be in too so I'll put it on the list of places to check out.

If you're in Troy obviously REI is right there, and Boyne not too far away at their Woodward location in Birmingham. Also within not too far from there is People Skate & Snowboard in Keego Harbor and Outdoor Action Company in Sylvan Lake. Those shops are actually not far from one another. OAC would have skis, too.
Yeah the Summit in EL is the one I was referring to that I went for the wife's skis. If I buy anything locally (as in not online, I know that Summit is not a local company) it's usually there just because I like their selection better than Modern S&S. Modern S&S is not for ski stuff at all I should mention, which is cool and all but they carry absolutely nothing in my size, for the most part.

I usually just take my chances online. But it sucks because I really like to handle stuff in person before buying, especially outerwear.

Summit is definitely worth checking out if you're near one, but like I said I just wouldn't drive a long ways for the place. The guys at the EL shop are pretty good though, especially with skiing stuff.

awesome thanks. We're staying just a short drive from the Boyne store, so the others really aren't far from where we'll be. We are just coming down for the weekend to get some early christmas shopping done.

I've heard some skiers say good things about Sun & Snow, which has locations in Ann Arbor and Plymouth.

Sun & Snow

Sooner or later your legs give way, you hit the ground.

Summit is a Michigan-based company. Unless they've moved recently but I don't think they have.

Ah good to know. I think I assumed that they weren't because of their links to skis.com and snowboards.com.

Makes me feel better about buying from them then, thanks for the info.

Hey what a small, web world... We may be able to make that, then your boy could teach my boy something and he could show off his girly board.
