I suppose I should post up my impressions of the "New & Improved" Mt. Brighton. Sab, since you went there last night, I'd be interested in your opinion on this as well.
I was there for about 3.5 hours Sat. waiting to hook up with Argo. Saw DaveZ just in time to say hello before he had to split. I rode for the first 2-2.5 myself. Honestly? I'm wondering where that 10 mil went?
The New #3 lift was a HUGE improvement on the antique piece of crap they did have, but the rest of the open lifts looked like maybe they were just refurbished. It looks to me like they got rid of the wood slats & just bolted new plastic seats on the old chairs. Dunno for sure tho. Dave's been more often than I so he might know for sure.
Nothing on the backside was open, so all the front side runs are short as F#%$! (...not that the backside runs are particularly long, but they are longer than the front.) It was hard packed man made which was all chopped up & rutted and even quite icy in spots. This is probably a more fitting comment on my
skill level rather than the quality of the slope conditions, but I came close to slamming with a caught edge several times on this hard rutted junk. (...had flashbacks to my Hip Pointer Slams after my lesson & first two days riding which was done there at Mt. Brighton, So I didn't really care for that!)
I only saw one kid working the lifts who was doing his job and keeping the offload area well kept. So on the number 3 lift, you end up offloading on ice, usually into a crowd of kids. It wasn't really crowded at all, yet the lift lines got pretty chaotic at times.
Honestly, for $35 to ride 1-5pm? (....discounted 10% btw!)
If I hadn't been waiting to meet Argo, I probably would have split for Holly or PK after my first few runs!
When they get the new park setup open after the 14th, You park guys will likely have something to rave about, but for general cruising the slopes? I still have to go with, ...Brighton Sucks!
I'd be interested to hear other impressions tho!
