I also woke up to about 6 inches of snow on my front lawn. So Pk should have a lot of pow, or should have had a lot of pow lol

It was good seeing and riding with you and your wife again. I was feeling it after yesterday as well. Rode for another two hours after you left today. It got even windier afterward.

Well, seems that overnight the snow changed from that super fine, crystalline snow to nice big fluffy flakes of dry POW. Looked like about 3 inches on the car this morning at 3:30am. (...I hate hotel rooms. Don't sleep worth a damn!)

Yesterday I hit the resort by 8:40 to get first chair @ 9am, only to find they had things running way early to accommodate some fucking NASTAR ski racers and the groomers were already pretty tore up by then.

Hopefully today, I will be the one laying down first tracks!

Trapper,.. did you recover enough to make it out to Crystal? If so, How was it. Looks like the big dump that was forecast for up this way stayed lower down in that region instead. That extra 8-12 inches they were calling for thur. thru sat. just sort of evaporated! (....seems even PK & Holly got a bigger accumulation of snow over the weekend than Highlands did!)

Up side is, it's been so friggin' cold during the days that the snow stayed really good. Hasn't been warming to slush during the day and freezing solid overnight. so even once it's been chopped to shit, It's still decent snow!

One side note; I gotta get me some better base layers for this kind of bitter wind & cold. Between the extra 20 lbs I' put on since last season and all the extra layers I had to wear,.. I could barely bend my fat ass over to strap in! LOL! The true bitch kitty is that the extra 20 lbs of blubber didn't keep me any warmer either. Just sweatier! Haha ha!

Anyway, hope everyone gets to Enjoy some sunday shredding!

Well I did recover enough to get up there for a day trip yesterday. And boy I sure am glad I did. It may have been the most fun I've ever had snowboarding. It was bad driving conditions and I'm sure that's part of what kept the lifts lines practically nonexistent, but we got there at 9:30 and rode until 3:30 and had powder conditions the whole fucking day. I'll bet on the main slopes there was at least 6 maybe more like 8 or so inches of fresh on top of the groomed runs, easy a foot or more in the trees, where there were spots that hadn't been touched all weekend. On the north face lift, we got fresh tracks in the powder basically the whole day. And it snowed substantially the entire time we were there.

The powder was confidence-building. I was bombing runs I don't normally try and even hit (and landed!) some small jumps in the beginner terrain park. It was easily the best day I've ever had on the slopes in my short tenure riding.

Here's a pic from the website to give an idea of conditions, nevermind the gay-ass teleskier:

2015/16 Snow Days
  • Bittersweet: 1
  • Caberfae: 7
  • Crystal: 3
  • Boyne Mtn: 1
  • Nub's Nob: 1
  • Keystone: 1
  • Winter Park: 2

Looks like I'll be at Highlands again this Saturday. Leo will be there and from the sounds of it he's trying to get Dave involved too.

We're bringing the fam, hopefully Boyne has kiddy ski lessons running for 3 year olds.

I was at alpine on Wednesday. They weren't fully open yet and the website says they still aren't (most of the unopened trails look to be their "big" terrain park areas, BX course, and halfpipe/etc.). The mini park is always a lot of fun there.

I know everyone on here raves about Highlands, but frankly it's too fuckin' far away for me to ever really consider it.

No go this weekend, anyways. Jackie's b-day on Friday and she's going out with friends Saturday and we've probably got a shitload of holiday stuff still to prep for. I'm local until at least Sunday. Might be able to swing over to C-burg or something on Monday.

Heading up north after Xmas to Treetops for a few days. All my loser friends backed out, so it's just going to be Jackie, Zoey, me and probably my nephew Jake. Whatever. They have an airbag jump and I'm going to try and build confidence in my 360s (I can do them, but I'm still a pussy about it) and if that goes well I want to learn rodeos.

It's not that far man. According to google it's a only 30 mins longer for you to get to Highlands/Nubs than it does for you to go to Crystal.
