Took all three kids to Crystal on Friday. Boys did ski school and did remarkably well. Were using the big carpet by the end of the day on their own. Pretty good for three-year-olds I think. Our six-year-old got on the Loki lift with us several times and that was a milestone for her. Next time she's going to try the new snowboard.

Conditions were awesome Thursday, nice powder and not many people at all. Didn't wait in line the whole day. Friday, no powder but still nice packed powder though it started getting crowded by noon. Today the wife and I went up there for a few hours this morning and even though we got there right at 9am, it was a fucking shit show. Everyone had the same idea it seemed of getting a few runs in before heading home after the holiday weekend. Also, freezing drizzle and icy corduroy made for less-than-ideal conditions.

Conditions were great at Treetops on Saturday, mid-30's, sunny, no wind. Pretty much ideal. Didn't bother with the airbag and went straight to the jumps. Really nice jumps set up there, three sizes, so something for pretty much everyone.

Was planning on hitting the airbag on Sunday morning even if that's all I would be able to do, but Zoey was being really fussy, wife wanted to go home, and the weather was shit, so I just rode the hill with my nephew for a few hours instead.

Overall solid for me, got over a major mental hurdle and I was landing no-grab 360s on the 15-20ft jumps... Hands down the biggest jump I've ever tried to spin on. Didn't eat shit. Scrubbed a few landings but didn't take any bad spills. Felt really good, even after I started getting a bit tired I didn't want to stop, because repetition is the key to building confidence & skill.

OK I jumped on the grenade today and rode with Chomps. Someone else's turn next time

Conditions at PK today were pretty firm. Dust on crost is maybe a bit harsh but that's kinda what it was. Firm hardpack with occasional ice but mostly it was decent, I guess I was just expecting a little bit softer snow. No complaints, I just had higher expectations LOL.

Small park is still small and crowded, even when the rest of the hill is not crowded.

The rest of the hill was not crowded at all.

Jump line on Snowbird was pretty gnarly I think they squeezed a quad line out of it. The first jump all I saw was kids knucking it. I think it's too big with not enough run-in. It looked like a good jump, but I ain't got those Mikey Leblanc bionic knees:

The rest of the jumps all looked 20+ so pretty decent size jumps but they looked a little poppier than I'm comfortable with especially on icy conditions. All the jumps in each park were well marked, painted, and visible despite the impossibly flat light for which Michigan is known.

Anywho... big park was pretty legit but in moderate need of some maintenance. Features were plenty with a good mix of rails, boxes, a wall-ride, a picnic table, and some smaller jumps and one bigger transfer jump as well. Some of the jibs, the lip was pretty gnarly and not shaped well, blaming that on past week's funky weather but still it could/should be fixed with some elbow grease. Overall a good park with plenty of features just needs a bit of TLC.
