Right now, TWC app shows a 70% chance of rain for Boyne this coming sunday. That being the case, since I wouldn't leave till sat morning. I am probably not going to make it up there this weekend.

Too bad too. Daytime temps are gonna be high all week, but it will still be cold or at least cool at night, so the snow should still be reasonable. (...by the look of things now, riding in May is almost definitely out of the realm of possability!)

If the forecast for rain changes for the better in the next day r two, I might change my plan, but for now? No way! I sure hope this wasn't my last weekender, but,....

BTW, on a side rant,... the price of a room at the GML, Boyne? It's gone right thru the roof! I paid less than $180 same time last year for a 2 queen room. Which was bad enough! (ski n stay pkg. too! Breakfast & Lift tickets!) Now, a single queen lodging only??? It's up over $240!!!! WTF?

That's crazy. Have they been busy enough to command that price?

...I guess they must be. that's what the chick at the frint desk told me anyhoo. What a racket, eh? I only know that if I'm going to Boyne Mt? I do prefer to stay at the lodge rather than 20-30 min away in Gaylord or Petoskey.

(.....I need a better paying job if I'm gonna keep this up! That or a rich GILF with a slopeside condo!)

We stay at a bunch of places depending on budget at the time.

For cheap we stay at America's Best Value Inn, it's a pretty no frills motel for around 60-80/night. Free breakfast till 10am.

We most recently scored a crazy $35/night through Priceline at a motel called "@ Michigan Lodge and Inn", check their prices out because I know they offer a discount if you follow them on twitter (10-20%?) but the high point is free food ALL DAY (till 10pm). Cafeteria style, lots of options. I went to town man.

Hmnnn,... That might just be worth the inconvenience of not walking right out to the lifts after my coffee!

Seriously tho, I know it sounds a bit ridiculous, probably even more than a tad,.... Pussy-ish, but between my bad back and my little sleep idiosycrancies? I have LOTS of trouble sleeping or being at all comfortable in many low budget motels. (...I actually sleep better and wake more refreshed, camping in a tent, sleeping on the ground than I do in summa those places!). The physical punishment after riding all day combined with not sleeping? Then driving solo 3-4 hours after? It makes for a miserable time.

One thing I can say about the GML @ Boyne? It's one of the most comfortable places I've ever stayed. It's usually worth it to me for the comfort n convenience.

-edit-
I may just try your super budget place tho Sam. This late in the season, for the conditions, cheap may be much better than convenience or comfort.

You need a better forecast than TWC, if for no other reason than WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT?? It's like, somewhere beneath all of the viral linkbait, they're still trying to maybe kinda sorta be a weather site.

Accuweather says morning showers tomorrow, and they are calling for less than 1/10" of rain on Friday. I'll take my chances with that. Also saying Saturday nothing until the PM hours. More or less the same for Petoskey/Harbor Springs.

TBH if I can get a good day on Friday, and a half-day on Saturday before it starts raining, I'll be happy enough.

Crystal Mountain's forecast is marginally better, but I haven't ridden Nub's in years, and I know both Nub's and Boyne's parks will be better. Plus, there's two resorts instead of just the one.
