I really want to make a day-trip out to Cannonsburg or somewhere else on the West side I've heard there are some great parks... not sure I'll be able to make it out that way this year though...

Wish I could have gotten out to enjoy the new snow the last couple of days. gah!

I'm going up to Caberfae this Saturday though.

David- I caught your review on facebook. I tried commenting but I don't think it's working. (work pc)

Here's what I said:

I was at Caberfae a few weeks ago and I never even saw that nasty looking hall you took pics of, thank god for that too. I like the newer lodge, yeah it's rustic but the food was good. Better than anything I've had at the downstate mole hills.

I'm going back again this Saturday to use up the last groupon ticket I got for them.

The Michigan Resorts you're comparing Cab to are Boyne right? Anywhere else?

Yeah it's a good thing you didn't see that lodge. It was naaasty! But the rest of the resort I don't really have any complaints. You should have a good time there this weekend they would've got dumped on Sunday night probably about 6" of snow and there's more in the forecast for Friday this week

For comparison: Boyne Mountain, Crystal Mountain, Schuss Mountain, Shanty Creek. In fairness these are all more of "destination" resorts and I still consider Caberfae more of a commuter ski area, although they have added some on-site lodging in recent years so it's kind of an apples-to-oranges comparison.

It's good to know what the "good" places are, especially the ones without Boyne in the name.

I'm in the beginner stage. I can link turns, stop and hit the occasional feature on a trail. I can stop and spray (but only toeside for some reason?)

I found Caberfae to be more challenging for me than Holly, mainly because of the narrowness of their runs. How would some of the other resorts compare in difficulty?

Caberfae definitely has some narrow old-school skier type runs. South peak was wider runs but also steeper & more challenging. The runs at Crystal vary, most of their runs are fairly wide by comparison. Boyne Mountain is also varied with narrower runs really limited to their black diamonds and maybe some blues. It's been a long time since I was at Schuss/Shanty (2005 maybe) but IIRC they're pretty well distributed, too.

Riding Thursday night with gls:maverick. Any takers? Probably PK but there's a small chance we'd do Holly.

I'm more than likely down for that. Already have a shell ticket waiting to be used. Evo should be here this week so that gives me an excuse to go out. You should pick up the Proto from me tomorrow or even tonight. I don't have time to wax it because I'm going through an ordeal with the apartment right now.

I'll give you the story later over beer or something haha. You can use my wax so you don't waste yours if you want as well.

I vote for PK. I just like it better than Holly and if I'm driving anyway might as well go somewhere cool.

Garrett: Sounds like PK it is.

Leo: not sure if I'd be able to connect with you to get that Proto tonight, looks like a long night of work for me and I'm also trying to set up some PVC in my backyard before the snow melts again. I am also going to try to ride maybe on Sunday or one day early next week before I go to Miami for a few days. If you can make it on Thursday PM just bring it with you, that'll be the easiest route I think.

Hey Leo if you still have those flows for sale and wouldnt mind bringing them out. I would like to give em a whirl; if they kick ass I'll take em off your hands.
