Alright everyone since Summer is over, fall has just begun and we've already had our first rail jam of the year, it's time to start a new thread for the 10/11 winter.

Last year we had the "Southeast" michigan thread, but I think we should do all of Michigan. Sure, most of population lives in S/E michigan but we all ride the same resorts in the LP and even the UP if we get a chance, so we should have one thread to bring everyone together.

Cheers everyone we're probably only like 70 days from open resorts!

Too bad we missed you Dave, Sam and I got there a bit after 6 and rode for about an hour and a half. I was surprised by the amount of snow as well. Way better conditions than I expected but also a bit more of a crowd too. It wasn't a big deal though, we made it through the line quickly enough.

All in all it was a great first day of the season. Sam must have been lying about his injury because he flew down the hill just fine.

Nope! Not lyin' about his injury! He just likes to FLY down the hill! :laugh:rode with him @ Boyne! Half the time i'd start down first and find him waitin on me in the lift line. Never saw him go by! Lol

Glad to hear he's still smokin down the hill! Sab, knew you'd be back in form after a few laps! :D

Man it was great getting out again. Thanks for the pressure trapper. haha

I felt just as good as I did before the incident. Sure I was rusty so my riding style was a little noisy in the beginning but I cleaned it up some and by the end of the night everything was beginning to feel like second nature again.

Funny you guys are talking about speed, I was reigning it in because I wasn't mentally ready to turn it on yet.

Long story short; I'm back bitches :yahoo:

I'm just glad that my groin injury seems to be healed up fairly well. No pain on that front despite the nagging knee that was causing me some hesitation. Hope this dang thing heals up by Thanksgiving.

I'll be at Crystal for the vast majority of my riding. I'll hit Caberfae once or twice, Bittersweet once, and Boyne Highlands, Mountain and Nub's in a weekend trip up there. I may go to Holly or Brighton on an oddball widweek night, but not very often.

Yep that's my gripe with Alpine and also I've never really liked its flow. They have that whole left side of the place with relatively large features but there's just not a lot of thought put in to their arrangement and frankly not enough features either. Or maybe I just suck. Probably a little bit of that, actually. They could benefit IMO from some more medium features, it's like you have a choice between an 8ft ride on box and a 10 ft tabletop in the mini park, or a closeout stairset handrail, 35 foot jumps and 30 foot rails in the big park. Nothing in between.

Lol!!! That's hilarious! I've been watching the SA tut's on that! Given the right deep snow day, I can see myself taking a crack at a Tamedog!

Sab,.. Again dude! Glad to hear you're back on the horse!
Looking forward to hooking up sometime around here or even better, up Norte! :D

Well, looks like Holly will be open tomorrow morning. My plan is to b there first thing. Anybody else heading there or PK tomorrow?

(...also see that Boyne Mt is opening now! Hope they get enough snow to open Highlands before the 6th! Got my B-Day 3 day weekend and I want to ride.)

Ughhhh wish I could... but we have plans in the afternoon/evening and I gotta get the yard work taken care of. Plus I got my fix on Wednesday... if they open Sunday I might try to make it otherwise I can hold out until next week (I will be in Cali most of the week on business anyways).

They'll be open. Maybe next weekend but probably not until Thanksgiving if I had to wager it. Nubs:

Hey dave! Cool airial shots. Highlands looks like they've got more coverage than I expected. If they open by Thanksgiving, I may just head thataway that weekend as well. (...want to get every pennies worth out of that pass this season!) ;)

Got my first day for this season today out at Holly ! I had fun, place was practically deserted. Took the Rome and NS Proto. Did pretty good. Didn't take long to get my legs and confidence back. In fact I did about a third of my first run switch and reasonably fast.

My butters are rusty, but today for the very first time I managed 4 or 5 popped front side? 180's !!! They were ugly, clumsy and awkward as hell, but I landed & rode them out.

Had a lot of fun going fast on the Proto! Hope to see summa ya out there soon!

(...damn! I'm sore!) lol

Hey guys (& gals,)

I wanted to post this here and see if I could enlist the help of my fellow locals! (...just in case you missed noticing it in the general, off topic forum.)

I started a thread to try and get some votes to help with a contest for a new Mahar snowboard. Here's the link to the thread.

http://www.snowboardingforum.com/off-topic-general-discussion/104321-need-help-marhar-contest.html

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

ps. Hope this rain doesn't kill our snow base at PK & Holly! :dunno:

Thanks for the votes guys! I really appreciate it!

yea that blonde girl is going to win... voted tho.
Lol! Yeah, you might be right. I came to the game late as is. But I was drooling over the Marhar throwback on BA's gear reviews n saw a link to the contest on the Marhar site n figured wth! I remembered that "pic" from last seasons POW dump at Highlands. Figured a Face Shot was a natural for a contest like that.

Btw, I didn't think that "Man Boobs" would get me the same kinds of numbers for votes or I would have posted an entirely different sort of "selfie!" Lol! ;)

Holy Shit!

I just checked the web cams for PK & Holly. PK was hurt by the recent rain & shitty warm temps, but Holly? Fuck! Looks like they were decimated! Can't see any white from the top! :(

Hope the Northern LP resorts faired better! I really was hoping to bail on the family for Thanksgiving this year! (...didn't need to pack on the extra calories this year anyhoo!) ;)

I voted for ya Chomps, you creepy-ass mofo, lol. In fact, if they are looking for a snowboard-related mustache, I think I'd have voted for you even without knowing you through the forum.

The past couple days have been bad for our snow bases, but oh well we've got a day in at least. Can't complain about that. Weather should be cooler from here on out so maybe they can get the guns going again soon. I'm stressed out for a number of personal reasons and I really need to ride again soon.
