Alright everyone since Summer is over, fall has just begun and we've already had our first rail jam of the year, it's time to start a new thread for the 10/11 winter.

Last year we had the "Southeast" michigan thread, but I think we should do all of Michigan. Sure, most of population lives in S/E michigan but we all ride the same resorts in the LP and even the UP if we get a chance, so we should have one thread to bring everyone together.

Cheers everyone we're probably only like 70 days from open resorts!

I will be at Treetops in Gaylord on 12/27 thru 12/29. Supposed to be a trip with a bunch of my friends/families, but they all backed out. Hands down the cheapest slopeside lodging; suite room for $189/night, which is less than 1/2 of what Crystal Mountain wanted for an ordinary hotel room.

If Hawk Island is open I will be riding there probably 12/26.

I might try to skate up north somewhere on 12/23 but probably pushing my luck with that.

No. Fucking. Shit.

Really surprised they have not opened yet but I guess they got a bunch of new snowmaking equipment or something? Probably need to get that shiz re-inspected/permitted by the State before they can open. Sucks though, because it's supposed to thaw tomorrow/Friday, so if they were pushing for a Friday or Saturday opener this week, ain't gonna happen. And frankly, with a winter as cold as we've had so far, opening AFTER christmas is pretty unacceptable, IMO.

So it looks like those of you heading north this weekend will be getting some decent boarding weather. Those of us that have to stay local,... not so much! :RantExplode:

Can't believe that the frigid cold that kept all this beautiful snow in nice condition even after days of riding & re-grooming is now going to get all F'd up by 2-3 days of warm and rain turning it to wet slush! Even if it doesn't melt away a good portion of the base, it will all turn hard and icy after the cold temps return!

I hate riding slab ice!!!!!!! :RantExplode:

Well, drive careful. Watch out for stupid ppl. Have fun!

...and say hello to Leo for me.

....Great conditions today, untouched tracks everywhere and I discovered my powder skirt doesn't really work haha

Leo is converted, he loves Highlands. It was his first time.
Haha! I knew he would!

With the crazy ice storm down south Leo and I decided to stay another day and enjoy the 8 inches of fresh today at Highlands. The snow was already amazing yesterday, today was epic. Soft fluffy awesome power up past our ankles all day with fresh tracks everywhere.
Glad you played it safe and waited out the storm! It's nice to get another days riding in good conditions out of playing it safe, isn't it?!

I had a near death experience but that story is for another day lol
Dude!! You can't just drop a bomb like that and leave it ticking!!!!! Give with some details! (...you didn't head into the jump line again, did you?!?)
;)

Anyway, Right now I am planning to go up for my vacation the week of Jan. 6th. If you guy's think you might be heading that way during that time frame lmk! We can hook up for a lap r two!

They cancel it!!:RantExplode: planned to hit it tomorrow before having to drive my mother out to my brothers for Xmas dinner in Howell. But they only have pm sesh tomorrow so I proly wont get to make it.

I guess I'm gonna go ahead and piss off the family for Christmas. ;) I Don't imagine I'll be seeing any of you married guys out tomorrow, but I plan on hitting PK for their pm session. Might even stop in and check out Holly while I'm at it. Hope the snows not too F'd after the warm n freeze. :dunno:

PSA Liftopia,.. Caberfae

Thought I'd post this as there were only a few left, but liftopia had day lift tickets on sale for $7!!

I snagged one for my vacation in Jan. I'll hit Cab for the day on Wed. the 8th, then head up to Boyne after. Since by then Boyne only does night riding Thurs-Sat, I'll try and get a deal for a night ticket at Nubs for Wed. night. (Liftopia was sold out of those today.) :(

Hope you all had a good Christmas!

I wish I could head north again this weekend, but I will likely stay local. I may try to get a morning session in tomorrow @ PK. Then maybe Holly sat. or sun.

If you stay local, lmk if you are heading out to one of these. I ditched the family @ dinner last night and hit PK for a couple hours. I absolutely Loved how deserted the runs were.

ps. DaveZ, if you are going to be out this way this weekend, Hollah! I'd love to try out that Marhar Throwback if you are in the area!

Crazy several days for us. Power out Saturday night, waited around for it to come back on, stayed at a hotel Sunday, with some friends Monday night, still no power Tuesday so drained the pipes and hot water heater in the dark, put RV antifreeze in the toilets and sinks, shut off the breaker to the well and packed all the fucking Christmas presents (from Santa too), loaded up the kids, the dogs and headed up north. Had Christmas morning at my mom's.

Woke up today at 7 am to dig out 3 feet of snow, dug a 4 foot deep hole in the ground itself that was big enough for my mom's 14 year old dog (that I saved as a puppy from an abandoned shopping cart when I was 18 in the middle of winter) who is on his death bed and chickened out of putting him out of his misery at the last second. Balled like a baby for about 5 minutes, put him in the garage on a bed of straw, covered him with an old sleeping bag and gave him a couple pain pills before heading up to Crystal for a few hours of powder to get my mind off it. Got home and shoveled 3 feet of snow off my mom's roof and am fucking dead tired. Going back to Crystal tomorrow with the whole family, boys are doing ski school and our daughter is riding with us.

Oh well at least my neighbor told me our power is back on at home, so hopefully we won't come home to a cold house. One Christmas I will never forget for sure.

I'll be at Mt. Holly with my older son tomorrow (Sunday, 12/29). I'll be in black pants, brick red jacket, and black helmet, and I ride a Donek. Son (7-1/2) will be in black pants, blue jacket, and cartoon dinosaur helmet.

Say hi or join us for a few runs if you see me!
