Alright everyone since Summer is over, fall has just begun and we've already had our first rail jam of the year, it's time to start a new thread for the 10/11 winter.

Last year we had the "Southeast" michigan thread, but I think we should do all of Michigan. Sure, most of population lives in S/E michigan but we all ride the same resorts in the LP and even the UP if we get a chance, so we should have one thread to bring everyone together.

Cheers everyone we're probably only like 70 days from open resorts!

nice 180 dave! i ended up goin to mt holly last night from about 5-9. i'm sure you would agree their park wasn't as nice as PK's but it was dece. i thought their kicker line was horrible. every one of the kickers had too much flat and not enough lip. i was hittin that same rail line. actually got a few legit bs boardslides on that bottom flat rail so i was happy. headed to utah on thursday this week :D

I'm not as good as Dave, so I'll just show my noob crash. Can't really see how bad these ramps to the boxes were. They were pretty steep and rutted out. I tried to save my bad approach by doing a half-assed nose blunt. Doesn't look as bad through my POV. Friends said it looked horrible. Redeemed myself with an Indy off the next box and then crashed again from using the final rail's ramp as a little kicker.

By the way, I'm still feeling the pain from that crash. My right arm and hamstring area are messed. Yup, I rode in that pain all of Test Fest.

hey u gotta start somewhere dude. 50/50's are a good starting point. your vid quality looked really good. hey i just wondered where and how your cam was mounted? was it pointing downward or were u just looking down the whole time??? u have a contour right? do you think it should've been mounted more downstream? damn i need to get my hands on a cam one of these days!

Actually, it was mounted pretty normal. I have a GoPro 2 but I mount my cam closer to the front of my helmet. I do point it down lower than others. I still want to point it lower. The problem is, since it doesn't have and LCD, I have to wait until the upload to see the angle. I've been lowering it little by little. My goal is to get the nose of my board constantly in the shot.

The angle you see after I crash is because the camera got hit too. It's just how it ended up after the crash

Edit: I'm so much more comfortable jibbing trees. On boxes, the second you pressure an edge even slightly... lights out.

dave, still riding the machete. i love that board. haven't added anything to it yet (stickers etc.) and haven't taken anything off it either, cartels are still rockin'. it remains unchanged, and well taken care of. thanks again for my first "legit" board. by the way sick 180 on, have to let my ribs heal a bit before trying that!

built an 8ft jib box using pressure treated wood and true hdpe for the top sheet. it is 9-3/4" wide and about 1-1/2ft high. i will post some pics when i get a chance. i have 3 more pcs of 9-3/4" x 10 ft of hdpe so i plan on making at least one more 8-10 footer. one 8 footer is a good start but not long enough, as many people have stated. been practising at the local hill 30 seconds from home. dave, if you are ever in the neighbourhood, let me know (anyone else for that matter). free is good . . .

Awesome yeah I really liked that board but it was a few cm's too long for me now that I'm riding more in the park. The bindings are solid too, so glad you're happy with them!

Take care of the ribs - I busted a few last february and that hurts!

I am an industrial design student at Kendall College of Art & Design working on the research portion of my thesis project. I am researching snow sports equipment management, and need snow sports enthusiasts to take my zoomerang survey.

Put it this way Sam... you're getting an earlier start in the park than most of us here. I just started getting into boxes last season which was my 6th.

I don't think Dave really concentrated on jibs either until a few seasons ago. You're in your second season and in all honesty, we might as well call it your first season since you barely rode last year. You're progressing at a very fast rate

Yep, and I will I'm sure.

I'm pushing 35 here in a couple days so I figure I've got a few years to play in the park and maybe 5-10 years to freestyle the hill before I'll settle in for just cruising the mountain.

You guys already have those years under your belt and have lots of time ahead of you.

Well, okay not THAT much more time than me. None of you are spring chickens :D

Hey Guy's,

Just wondering if anyone was planning on heading out to PK or Holly this weekend? I'm hoping to run into a couple of you guys out on the slopes one of these days.

Edit; (...Hmmm, maybe I should have re-phrased that last sentence!!) ;)

that's kinda the plan, not sure if it is going to be a legit 'street' event like going over to Pontiac Central high school and poaching that rail because there won't be any snow around there right now, but there is plenty of snow piled up in parking lots and Jon has a 15' rail and a 12' bar that we can play around on and is usually pretty fun, super mellow/low-key, no pressure environment.
