Alpine Valley East Troy OPEN *snow report*

I have been to Alpine Valley everyday since Thursday 12.8.11.

Report *as of last night*
  • All runs open except 2 beginner runs *Alpine & Valley View still closed*
  • All high speed quads up and running, only closed chair lift feeds Valley View
  • Not crowded
  • powdery on top little icy in some spots but as they keep grooming it's getting better & better
  • NO terrain park features and just my guess not till at least next weekend
  • NO jumps other than some natural hits or under where the guns were and those were sketchy, unless you were a more advanced rider. Scout them 1st many had an unexpected kick ramp with a big groove on the landing side and would really shoot you up. Good if you knew how to hit it.
I saw the 1st ambulance of the year there pulling someone away, no details but hope they are ok.

Taking today off from the hill this dad is tired

Brings back memories ( ambulance included) from my Chicago days. I think Alpine was the very first place I have ever went riding. Alpine isn't that bad compared to all others "resorts" in the area. To get to any better hill would require a trip to Cascade or Devil's Head.

Alpine is 30 minute door to chair so it is our home hill, season passes.
We try to make a few trips throughout the year to some of our other resorts
  • Granite Peak
  • Tyrol Basin
  • Devils Head and Cascade

all depends on the funds, ride what God gave us here. I figure if I can ride well here I can ride GREAT anywhere, I hope

GP has some good stuff going on. A ton of new jib features were made in the off season. I don't think all the runs are open yet but probably real close. They have had cold temps and the only snow in the state has really been mid state and up.

Cascade has had the guns on and again not fully open but majority. Not sure about the park. My buddy just went yesterday so I'm waiting to talk with him today to see how it was.

Devils Head I can't confirm they kept pushing their opening date back.

Has anyone been up to Granite Peak yet? Coming home for 2 weeks and I was wondering if it's worth the drive, or if I should just go to cascade/devils head.. Making the drive from beaver dam btw.
