Granite Peak, Wausau, WI, Closed all week.

I was just told that due to warm weather and recent rain that Granite Peak will be closed from Tuesday, March 13th through Friday, March 16th.

They will be open on Saturday from 9-9 and Sunday from 9-4 though.

Just a heads up for anyone here that was planning on stopping there this week.

I planned a trip to Wausau for March 23-25 so I could get a couple more days of riding in before my season is totally over. Is it going to be just horrible conditions by then at Granite Peak? It seems like it would be nothing but slush (after witnessing Chestnut's closing weekend) but I've never been to Granite Peak before. Should I cancel the trip or just wait and see?

I heard the news also and it was a little disheartening because there is a competition there this saturday and hopefully the park won't be destroyed to bad. Also Derp do you think Granite Peak will be shut down before April?

As of now they still plan on being open this weekend.

I know Central Board shop has their event going on.

I boarded most of the day & night this past Saturday/Sunday and conditions were pretty slow and rough. Too warm to even refreeze when the sun goes down. Corn. My base was almost solid brown each day I finished.

They are doing everything they can, but with weather conditions like this -

I don't see them being open much longer. It sucks, but they can't compete against mother nature.

If you want to have a good experience for your first time at GP, I would stay home. I'd hate for you to have a bad impression of the hill. Just been a extremely bad season weather wise.

Yeah, I know. Horrible everywhere in the midwest. I was just hoping I could get one last day on a hill before the spring.

Derp were done for the year. Just not worth it to drive up for a day. Our local hill closed today as well.

Season is officially over!!!

Same here buddy. I put a thick coat of wax on the CC last night, took the bindings off, zip-lock'd everything up, bagged the board, and hung everything up in storage for the season.

Wish I could have gotten more out of the season, but mother nature can be a real bitch. Already looking forward to next season though.

What's the advantage in taking your bindings off?

So my board fits in the bag it came in I also just like cleaning everything up nice and tidy and keeping anything metal that could be affected by humidity zip-locked.
