metal as a music genre has for sure changed; christ, just compare Motley Crewor Bon Jovi to Napalm Death or Deicide... (altho some would say the former are 'rock')

but check any reputable resource, and most if not all would claim that Black Sabbath were the inventors of 'heavy metal'. good old ozzy!

If you guys like Ozzy and Black Sabbath you should check out "The Sword". They're a newer band but they deffinately take it back.

Can't forget Judas Priest! I still have hearing loss in my right ear from one of their concerts. I just happened to be stumbling past one of the stacks when they fired up a Harley.

they were the best, but they disbanded in 1999 and the lead inspiration and writer for the band died of cancer in 2001

but their choons still echo thru my melon! cosmic sea and lack of comprehension are both very good.
