So I switched from Spotify to Apple Music...

Yup this was a big deal at my house. Hehe. I had Spotify premimum for about past 18 months. I really liked it and I would stayed with it but my wife was using it too and that became a problem. I switched to Apple Music , but $5 more per month. I have a Sonos speaker and Apple Music works very well with it, probably better than Spotify which would drop out sometimes. My wife thinks Apple Music sounds better than Spotify too. I'm not so sure but I suppose it is possible. Apple Music seems to have more artists, and I think Apple treats them better.

I had a bunch of sweet playlists I made on Spotify including a Snowboarding Forum playlist of all of our favorite songs from this thread:

http://www.snowboardingforum.com/mus...-playlist.html

Here's the link to SBF Snowboarding Playlist on Spotify:

https://play.spotify.com/user/121745...EkfS5A38Qi5px0

I will have to recreate those if I want them in Apple, pain in the ass, one reason why I didn't switch sooner. It is easier to make playlists in Spotify but the playlists made by Apple are much better than what Spotify algorithm makes.

Anyhow that is my $0.02 on making the switch, I like both services. Neither is perfect but both are good. Anybody else use streaming services or made the jump from Spotify to Apple Music or thinking about it. Just curious.

Been using Apple Music pretty much since the start if you have an Apple TV its a no brainer. I have the family plan which is 14 bucks but it can be shared between me and my fiancÚ which is nice. No complaints to be had really

Can't give a comparison to spotify as I never really gave it a shot

I don't have Apple TV. What makes that better? Listen to music through home theater?

The interface for Apple Music on the Apple TV is very easy to use and I like it a lot better than the phone or computer.

My apartment is small so I use my home theater system for playing my music which is plenty for the space.

I also enjoy seeing the Album art full screen, may sound odd but that is one of my favorite parts of physical records and CDs album art could easily make or break listening to something new. I know don't judge a book by its cover but we all do.

Maybe a dumb question - but do you have to use apple products (iPhone, etc) for it to work?

If not, how does it perform on an Android platform?

I've been using Spotify premium with various bluetooth devices and chromecast for the tv and never had any issues. I agree their playlists are pretty bad though. Mainly use it for listening to albums (and some key artists are missing).

My only issue with spotify is that sometimes the app doesn't play nice with the Bluetooth streaming to my head unit (Kenwood DDX series). Once I finish wiring it all I'll try it through usb (has to be hard connected to run the android app on HU anyway). But with the wireless charger install and Bluetooth it plays and charges without wires and I don't have to open the case. I don't use spotify radio, just downloaded playlists. Gonna spin the one you posted.

Doubt I'll ever own another Apple device though....

Update...

I hated Apple Music. I switched back to Spotify a couple of weeks ago. Free 90 days had run out on Apple. In that time, Spotify finally got a family plan in Canada so I switched back. Family plan was the only reason i tried Apple Music.

Apple Music Pros and Cons:

Pros
1. Excellent playlists and radio. These are made by humans not algorithms and they are far better than Spotify's.
2. Huge library including stuff not on Spotify ie: Taylor Swift

Cons
1. I hate the UI. Similar to iTunes UI and I hate the iTunes UI. I just find Spotify much easier to use.
2. No user created playlist. I love this feature on Spotify.
3. Harder to make playlists. Again shitty UI.
4. No top songs list for artists. Spotify lists the number of plays for the top ten songs for every artist, I love that feature.
5. No social media content, not a huge deal but it is fun to see playlists created by your friend or famous people and follow them. Nice to be able to share playlists with friends and public. Handy feature i missed in Apple.

Most people probably couldn't give 2 shits about my music streaming experiences. But I thought I would share them because I take music streaming services very seriously and I like a lot of first hand information. I use Spotify every day and find great value in the service. Music is a big part of snowboarding so I thought I would share my experiences.
