I remember when I went snowboarding with a discman in my pocket. Now bear in mind a CD is only about 70mins long.....U2 is a great band, but after about the 10th repeat of 'Achtung Baby' it got a bit, well.....repetitive. Now I have a tiny little Sony 2Gig MP3, thats about 1000 tunes, and I put it on full random, and somehow it seems to know what I want to hear while riding. It went from: If you'r going to San Francisco, while carving powder with long lazy turns, to Queen, to The Police, just when the song was appropriate for the terrain.
Here is what I have on my MP3:
Bob Marley......while you be hotboxin' it in the gondola.....ya mon....one good thing about music when it hits you feel ok.....Trenchtown rock.....
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Fine Young Cannibals
Men At Work
Oliver 'Tuku' Mtukudzi.....African music.
Pet Shop Boys
Simon & Garfunkel
The Moody Blues
Soundtrack from the Movie: The Boat That Rocked.....get it, both the movie and the soundtrack, such a good film.
And last, but not least, U2.
It's taken a while to compile that list, and I do add and subtract from time to time, but I can't have it all, so this is what I have on it right now. And yes, I am old school, shit, I even have a cassette walkman somewhere and could copy my vinyl collection on to tape and play that on the slopes, get me 90mins of playtime
......but I am under 40 years of age....
