Eminem has always been official IMO....
Theres such a difference in music when singers write their own lyrics and have their lyrics written for them. The 'artists' who pay people to write for them dont sounds nearly as good as Eminem, Alicia Keys, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, etc etc. You cant even compare the autotune guy (whats his name?? I cant think of it right now, having a blonde moment lol) to Eminem. This probably sounds corny, but you gotta feel and relate to what you sing (or rap). And Eminem....hes very very much on point with his music in that sense. Yea he says messed up things and is so incredibly politically incorrect...but if you dont like it, its so easy to just push a button and wa la, dont gotta listen to it. The magic of todays techonology...

Eminem has not put out a solid album since the MMLP. What made Eminem so amazing was his ability to say whatever the fuck he wanted, to whoever the fuck he wanted. And he didnt give a shit! People were blown away by his "audacity." You either loved him, or hated him. He is catering to the masses now and while he still puts a few good songs on each album, none of them are anywhere close to the bangers from the past. You wanna hear raw lyrics that just kill it? Here is an example from his first album "Infinite" called "Open Mic"
[Verse 1: Eminem] I'll have you taken back to Christ when you sacrifice The way you acting slice when I tear your back with knifes Jacking life's of MC's, now I'm set to launch a plan For blowing up the stage with illegal contraband I stomped your man so unless you want what he got You better set the mic down, I'm steaming like a teapot I'll make the tea hot, people get in my face and ask If I wanna battle, then I chase them in a Jason mask It's an amazing task to battle with success I never gave a fuck, now I give a fuck less And in a slug fest I get physical like physicians And visual like magicians with mystical mic traditions Wicked wizardry, like a sorcerer and no remorse for you When I torture you throughout the course of my orchestra So feel the force of my spiritual images Slicing up an enemy's appendages till he hemorrhages My skin itches every time a rapper recites And when he's through with his verse, I'm all covered in flea bites You wanna see fights I got a match for ya You couldn't flip shit playing in toilets with a spatula [Verse 2: Eminem] You bitches get a hysterectomy disrespecting me You wanna feel the full effect of me, hand a tech to me Intellectually superior, I'll make the whack wearier Inferior, deterior rate, like bacteria Materially, killing serially, clearly you'll see How much in fear when u hear me you'll be Shiver and shake, quiver and quake Bite a rhyme and rip it off then stiffer and ache, whither and break You slithering snake, gibbering fake, fibbering flake I'll twist you into a different shape And toss you in Michigan Lake, for fisherman sake If this is a dream you'd wish you can wake Every diss you can take, personal We ain't friends trying to make amends If you ain't ever stole a gate you can take a fence I make intense masterpieces and smash to pieces Your last releases, you bad diseases, that's the reason I'm showing you the proper way to operate a mic So pass it like a hot potato I've never been less than clever and fresh Severing flesh of fools who never impressed I can confess If that doesnt send shivers up your spine, just stop listening to hip-hop now. He used to kill it so hard. His razors edge just aint what it used to be. |

Forgot to add this one too. This is far deeper than anything else he's put out by far. And yet againfrom his first album...
Jealousy Woes off of his first album "Infinite" Verse 1: I come home every single day from working double shifts And stop along the way to pick you up a couple gifts I come inside and you pretend you miss me when you kiss me Then you diss me and we strenuously fight continuously Again you frisk me, for numbers trying to bust me It must be only just because you never learned to trust me Plus we only grovel only irrelevant issues To many tissues, for my feelings you misuse I buy you jewelry, you make a fool of me I bring you diamond rings you say I'm bad at timing things So what's a man to do when all i hand to you is handed back to me You act to be this gangsta bitch, that ain't what first attracted me I used to love your company now you always pumpin me For information and you tell your friends you plan on dumping me So I'ma wait for your evacuation Cause every accusation makes me wanna smack your face in See I've never been so sure, and your just insecure So my solution to your jealousy presents a cure I recommend you take your things and check 'em in Look at the nervous wreck I'm in, I need my second wind, Say What? Verse 2: I used to be a puppet and a sucker for your silent treatments I used to be intoxicated with your sweet sense Until the day I started following your feetprints And tapping in your phone conversations through the heat vents It made complete sense, there's someone else you like So I confronted you and asked you who was Mike? And you was like, (sampled) **I need a new nigga** Someone rich that I could follow And you'll be over me by the time you see tomorrow Leaving me in sorrow, Brandy never felt so broken hearted I fell apart when you departed then the joking started I was an open target, you play comedian And I became the laughing stock. but now I'm on my feet again And so we meet again, your acting like an ex-wife All in my sex life, I got a message from Phife He goes, "You didn't want me to see you then, I don't want you now" Take a towel, wipe your brow, quit trying to hunt me down You run me down and now your trying to apologize For all the lies and everytime you made me ball my eyes Because I got a bigger wallet size, you wanna swing it Jealousy is in the house ya'll, Fellas sing it... How can any of his newer shit ever compare to the genius that this album captures? Last edited by macattack; 08-04-2010 at 08:38 AM. |

The guy is phenomenal. I remember when "My Name Is" launched when I was in high school. I thought it was catchy and funny, but I didn't think he had a chance at any staying power much less would evolve into one of the best in the game.
As far as his new shit not comparing and being tamer... I'm guessing you haven't heard 3am? YouTube - Eminem 3 AM Second Single Of RelapseHQ SOUND + LYRICS |

If you want to compare a lot of the songs on the recovery track to any of his previous work, then compare it to Stan. Stan had so much meaning behind it. That is recovery right there. Eminem's Love the Way You Lie is basically a love song. It's deep as fuck because he's talking about Kim. I do understand how a lot of his fans are disappointed at his new album. It's because you guys can't look past the collabs and overall style of beats. Just pay close attention to his lyrics though. Punch lines everywhere Session 1 "Now I aint back just for the sake of sayin im back I could relax but Id rather stack ammo on tracks couple zanacs light a couple wax candles then black- out and relapse till I act Jack Daniels and yap Burp bubbles attitudes imaturin double shot of bacardi party vision is blurrin woah I cant see shit my words get to slurrin uh oh you can call me R.Kelly now Urine-trouble whats accurin before after and durin the show theres no bearin on the bad news im bearin wow what is it wordplay no Im pushin you out the dough so suck my di-k on a couch if you want a cushion to blow now stomp your f--kin feet till you get to squishin a hoe Its pandemo-neum standin o when you see him oh dam baby you look good you givin me wood you should pull over like a sweatshirt with a hood ????or snap work it a poly on???? you and me both break bread while im hopin over this game to pinch a loaf now homie who's your favorite pain in the ass who claims to be spittin the same flames as me/im Kanye when he crashed in other words I got the hood on smash like I stepped on the gas destroyed the front end deployed the dam air bags on the dash went through em and laughed came back an hour after the accident and bit a god dam jaw breaker in half so stop fakin' to funk and start shakin ya ass slaughterhouse in the house with the causasian of rap and just blaze on the track/ what the f--ks more amazin then that slut answer me that/ royce where you at?" I mean seriously, how can you argue that those lyrics aren't on par with his first album? Some punch lines from various songs "I gave Bruce Wayne a Valium and told him to settle his ass down. I'm ready for COMBAT MAN. Get it? Calm Bat Man?" "You don't get a second chance. Life is no Nintendo game, but you lied again. Now you get to watch her leave out the window, guess that's why they call it window PANE (Pain)." "Coz the way that I feel, I'm strong enough to go to the club or the corner pub and lift the whole liquor counter up coz I'm raisin the bar" "I'm the longest needle around here. I'm the big shot. Get it dick snots?" "Love is evol (evil), spell it backwards. I'll show ya" "Take your best rhymes, record em. Then try to throw em. He'll just take your punch lines and snort em." Listen to tracks like Almost Famous, 25 to Life, Session 1, Cinderella Man, Cold Wind Blows, No Love... just listen to everything lol! I have this theory. Most sequels aren't received as well as originals in music or movies. This is because the first one is something that you have never seen before. With Eminem, there were no other rappers like him when he came out. He was so different and in a different league. It's hard to get over that first impression. He's been around a long time now. You've heard all his highs and lows. It's not that Recovery isn't as good as Infinite or his other earlier albums... It's just that your first impression of Eminem is such a strongly favorable one. Movie example. Iron Man 1 was loved by a lot of people. Iron Man 2 wasn't received as well. Looking into the substance of the movie, Iron Man 2 is a better story, better acting (Don Cheedle did a killer job when he was doubted for that role), and better action sequences. Why wasn't it as popular? Because the world already got a taste of an Iron Man movie. |
