When I gave it thought, I really can't place anyone on top. This is what I think about those rappers:
Tupac: As real as it gets. One second he's calling a female a bitch and the other he's telling them to keep their head up. Each one of his songs were a direct reflection of himself. Lyrically, he didn't have the best rhymes, but his delivery was unarguably sick as fuck. Guru: Another truly real artist. I lump him with Tupac in that they both tell stories. However, lyrically, Guru is way more technical than Tupac. I like his mellow style of rap too. Method Man, Slick Rick, have similar mellow sounds and are two other great rappers. Biggie: The absolute sickest thing about Biggie was his highly technical style of rap. That dude could bust like nobody's business. Not only that, he was mad smooth with his flow. I really miss his music because it was a damn pleasure to listen to his shit. Here's what stands out about Eminem and why I place him up there with the rest of the greatest. In a world so full of Little Waynes and Gucci Maynes, Eminem sticks to what he does best... being himself. Sure, he had some really bad falls musically, but I really do feel he is back in full force. I've said this many times, his current music isn't a sound for everyone, but lyrically he is still a beast. When he's Slim Shady, his lyrics are nonsensical and fun to listen to. As Marshall Mathers, he spits real shit like Stan, Toy Soldiers, and Love the Way You Lie. Eminem has some of the craziest metaphors and rhymes words that you wouldn't think rhymed. Ex; Again/Pain, Familiar/grill ya. A group that I have always given props to is Jurassic 5. They rap in such a harmony that it's like they are a singing group. The way they rap off of each other is just so different and slick. Here's hoping they have a reunion

Yeah most ppl feel the same way with the beat but to me the beat is first then the lyrics. If I don't like the beat then I won't even pay attn to the words. Without the beat it's not music and just poetry which I do not read/follow up on. Different strokes for different folks.
