Hip-Hop - Suggestions?
Alright, so here's a guy with 16,000 songs in his iTunes library, of which less than 1% is rap/hip-hop/etc.
This is mostly because I'm so turned off by mainstream rap (it's honestly all the same to me (yes, huge hypocrisy)), and love the stuff I listen to now(electronic, post-hardcore, indie rock) so much that I havn't bothered venturing into the hip-hop genre. Ironically, I write beats all the time, and can appreciate some good hip-hop remixes. So here's what I'm asking for: Some underground/unique artists who someone who loves instrumental stuff and has a decent music background can enjoy. I torrent stuff and buy albums at live shows; links are cool if you got em. Thanks duuuuudes:thumbsup: |
i think i know what your lookin for
check out this dude J. Cole he produces his own beats and stuff too.. and is also considered AT the top lyricly in the game. also a good hip hop band is THE ROOTS |

get the old album from red man its called muddy waters
get some def squad in there too |
Redman & Method Man - Blackout
Celph Titled & Buckwild - Nineteen Ninety Now Demigodz - Godz Must Be Crazy Army of the Pharaohs - Any album you want to pick should be fine. |
These are "rap" but they are not really the mainstream rap about guns/money/bling/gangsta shit... most of these songs actually have meanings...
Lupe Fiasco - The Cool Kid Cudi - both of his albums (new one just came out a week or 2 ago) With that said... I still listen to the gangsta/bling shit. Something free that I consider lyrically incredible: Lil Wayne - No Ceilings It's a mixtape of wayne using other people's beats, but he just straight up kills these songs. |
Some of the most addicting songs for me are:
Gangstarr-Full Clip Cyne- Pretty Apollo P.O.S.- Low Light Low Life Sandpeople- It's True Sage Francis- Love the Lie, The Best of Times Apathy- It Takes a Seven Nation Army to Hold Us Back |
Atmosphere
