It'll probably only be the older heads on here that even have a clue what this thread is about, but...
Seriously? People were actually seriously stoked on this band? Get the fuck outta here! I used to have a neighbor who thought these guys were the best band ever. I'm serious. Not his favorite band, but the BEST BAND EVER. Unbelievable. But, I've known several people who really, really liked this band. I don't get it. Out of respect, I won't say that Rush sucks ass. But, Rush sucks ass. They're terrible. That's all. |

Blasphemy! Rush kicks ass. I have seen them live and it was a great show. Neil Peart is one of the best drummers around.
I will give you that their lyrics are very strange but that is about my only gripe. Subdivisions, Limelight, Spirit of the Radio, Freewill, and Working Man are all great songs. You are obviously missing something since they have been around and popular for 30 years. Bonus points for their tie ins with Freaks and Geeks and I Love You Man |

Nope, never seen them live. Seen live shows on DVD, but never in person.
I'm afraid I'd stick a pencil through my eardrums if I had to hear Geddy Lee sing in person. That's really the major FAIL of Rush. Geddy Lee singing. Just stop that and I'd probably like them. |

I'm only 29 and Rush is one of my favorite bands. I'm also a drummer who doesn't give a shit about vocals. No wonder I love metal so much (current favorite is The Dillinger Escape Plan...even MORE un-listenable)! In high school I played in a classic rock cover band that covered "The Trees," "Closer to the Heart," "Limelight," "Freewill," "YYZ," "Tom Sawer," "Fly by Night"...I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. Our singer was equally bad. Saw them in concert at The Gorge during their Test for Echo tour = EPIC!!! I fully understand and accept why people don't like Rush or any of the other music I listen to
