I was not expecting it at all. And, damn. That song, on an empty mountain during snowfall is close to spiritual.
I had a similar moment. Coming down Home Run at Squaw valley after a solo day trip, pull off under the ropes and I'm looking down at the valley, bluebird day, and Wonderful World comes on. I sat there watching people come down the run, kids, parents, friends, the sky was blue, the air crisp and clean and I'm out in nature.

One of those wonderful moments I'll have the rest of my life.

i used to goto shows on LI all the time, but the people started caring more about what they wore to the show than the music

So, are you saying "no" the "crutch" of sXe mentality, or that you have no "crutch" because you are sXe?

(some how, I think this thread is about to get, well, interesting)

Im straight edge, if you couldnt tell from the name and play list. So, the latter. I dont try and force what i believe on anyone else, i used to always be trying to get people clean and whatever, but it was ignorant, and i regret it. I live a straight edge life style, it works for me, keeps my head straight, but what ever you gotto do to get by or have a good time is cool to. Im also for the legalization of all drugs. Saying that usually starts a good convie. I believe that you should be able to do anything in your own house as long as you arnt hurting anybody. Keepng drugs illegal, just funds crime. and to say that pot shouldn't be legal is a complete joke imo.
I get the feeling your anti edge? Alot of straight edgers are pricks, ill give you that, and alot dont even know what it means. I hate what straight edge has become...

*EDIT* btw Fucked Up is one of my fav bands, i saw them not to long ago play the barbary. AWESOME show

I'm 34, and grew up in the heyday of the militant sXe movement. I was part of it for quite some time, but bowed out right before it got, well, facist. But hell, "if I'm not now, I guess I never was." That said, I can still have "X" scars on my hands if I look hard enough. The biggest problem I have with religion is when it assumes the role of administering judgment on others. The sXe movement can often fall into guise of "religion." In that role it can at times mirror the very tenants of right-wing christian conservatives; no sex/booze. pro-life. anti-gay. etc. (with an acute environmental bent, of course). Therein, lies my biggest issue with sXe, and some of its modern faces. Of course, sXe has produced some kick-ass music, too. But I know you are well aware of that.

ah, yeah, I just saw Fucked-Up last month. Great show.
