Symposium: Youth Needs A Music Scene

Alright guys, I've gotten plenty of help from you all in the past. Basically I'm working on a symposium for my college English class.

What I need are some more sources, and what better than a legit post from a member in a Music sub-forum...

What I'm looking for are opinions on why we need to have more music in our everyday lives. Such as personally playing an instrument and such. If you have annnything at all to say about music and our youth that would be amazing, even links to some place with legit info would be great. It has to be 6-8 pages long minimum and I have a lot to go. If you could even post up some stories about having to balance music between school, or everyday life that would be great!

Thanks for any help,
Derek

wow i can go on for hours. Music has helped me through some rough times, ska calms me down, makes me realize that things usually aren't worth the effort it takes to be upset over. Punk helps me vent any anger and frustration i have. Blues, oldschool rock and funk are all great any time, there so much soul there. Aside from all those obvious things though, you should look into the physical affects of music. there are AMAZING studies. Look up a test where they had rats run a maze, some after listening to classical music, and some after listening to hardcore. very interesting stuff. I think though, musics greatest aspect is that it will always be a friend to you. No matter what happens, there will always be music to help you feel your not alone, or if nothing else, to distract you, and give you a break from whatever you're going through. No matter what happens to the world, the music you love will always be great.
