Type Two 157, Just the TIP

Just snagged this bad boy to borrow before I have to give it back for SIA weekend and all the out of towners who need to crush the NS demo supply. I plan to get several days in next week and will report back!

Interested in hearing what you think about it in comparison to the Funslinger.

Can't wait to read your write-up.

First Thoughts

We've gotten over a foot the last few days, today was cloudy/sunny and relatively warm (25f) and they were dropping ropes and opening terrain from the top of Chair 9.

Basically perfect post storm conditions if a touch on the grabby side. Deep bottomless turns on steep bowl runs.

I've already elucidated most of what this board what gonna be based on riding the West and Funslinger a bunch last year.

The most noticeable thing to me was that it is AGGRESSIVE. The snap and spring in the board is much more available than the Ripsaw, but at the same time no where near soft, giving you that really aggressive ride. This is not a beginners board imo, neither was its grandpa the CT. The HD was imo, but it was also a bit neutered into more of a park deck.

One of the things that I didn't get to was a proper tip detune, and given the more extreme nature of the camber angles as they hit the contact point, I feel those sharp edges wanting to hang a bit. I think with a nice smoothness and lack of edge up there it will be right where I want it. Also there was a factory wax job on there but I needed some whale snot today.

If the West was a Miata and the Ripsaw a 600hp GTO, the Type Two is a 400hp rally car.

A little detune, wax, break in period on the flex, and me getting used to it, and its there.

I'm glad its this aggressive, it almost rode me a little today, and its exactly what I was pointing at that I felt the West lacked. Don't get me wrong, the West doesn't lack it, its nice without it. Its a different ride all together, pretty much just what it should be (in fact they both are. By contrast I think the West can be a board for a beginner, someone who isn't sure where they are aside from not in the park, the bigger nose and shorter tail are a little more forgiving, and for someone who doesn't need a twin, could really give them a chance to ride at the top of their ability, this board on the other hand is for ppl who are like "i need that shit". If you want a twin but don't need this shit, the Funslinger will suffice, its very fun all mountain, wont stand up to as much serious/critical riding).

Feel free to ask any other questions, it was just a short morning, maybe 10 runs and split. Hoping to get out at least one more day this week before returning it, maybe two.

Oh and here's a picture of the topsheet catchin some rays.

Yes, both the West and the 25th anniversary could qualify, although the West more so (I haven't ridden the 25 yet, I think it's stiffer, although I think the TypeTwo maybe in between them, it feels stiffer to me than the west)

It does sound like a good East coast board. Could you notice the deeper heel side cut?

Not sure, I know I like it. Its sort of like optimizing a board the way a directional is optimized, but on a different axis. Heelside never feels the same as frontside, but it feelsgoodman.

I always thought it would be cool to have someone film a little, but i'm not a go pro er. I have about 3 on hill photos from the last 5 years.

They should become more available to demo over the spring, they didn't make very many pre pre production, I had to fuck Vince's cousin's goat to borrow one for a week.

Going by the factory is never a bad idea, give them a call, Vince is chill (the family goatherd notsomuch).
