Never Summer West and Bantam
So I have now put 5 full days on My 2017 Never Summer West and just love the board. A bit of background, I am a 46 year old rider and 30 year surfer previous board was a Burton Barracuda that I loved but the board did not perform great on the more firm days-it just got washy but boy was it awesome when the conditions were good.
I got a 159 a few days in advance of my annual trip to Stowe. Over the course of the break we sort of saw it all-some fresh snow, some hard stuff and everything in between and what I would say is that the best way to describe this board is predictable. I felt like the board did whatever I wanted it to do and it never surprised me. The board held an edge when firm, was playful when I wanted it to be and could absolutely rail a turn and carve (which is my preferred way of riding). Edge hold was always there but the board never felt catchy. This is my first experience with Never Summer and have to tell you, I am sold and look forward to checking out some of their more Pow specific shapes in the future.
So one of my 10 year old twins wanted a Never Summer this year because a friend of his who is an instructor at Stowe rides one. We checked out the Bantam and decided to order one for him. He is a strong intermediate rider that loves to go fast and he can pretty much ride any terrain except some super steep mogul runs but anything that is groomed or in the woods and he is in. He is certainly stronger this year as a person but also this board just works so well for him. He got a 130 and it feels like it is more of a big person's board vs a kids board and it shows in his riding.
Super happy with both NS purchases and look forward to more time at Stowe in a few weeks.
