2011 Never Summer Heritage 158cm
Rome Targa bindings
K2 T1 boots
Board is a lot lighter than my Premier F1-R and carbon woven topsheet looks sick!
This board handles like it's on rails on the groomers. You can definitely lean right into the carve, and the edges will continue to bite and bite and bite until you make a full 'U' turn and are going up the mountain. You can literally carve until your hand is touching the ground ON GROOMERS! The flex is great on this deck. You can still butter on it, however it just takes a bit more effort. This board is VERY fast also. It just rips down the hill charging through anything in it's way. Edge to edge is very fast on this board. The rocker really helps move it side to side, but the camber gives it that stability when you are charging. That's what helps make this deck ride like a smaller board. The dampening is pretty good too, though not as good as the Raptor it's perfect for an all mountain board. When the runs get tracked out, you will feel the bumps but just a little bit. Ollie-ing off rollers is a piece of cake, it will shoot you up in the air and landings are super easy to stick (camber in the tip and tail rocks)! Switch is a piece of cake on this deck even though it's directional and is a 158! Rocker makes switch much easier. I am definitely not as strong riding switch, but it's clearly easier to accomplish.
So today was super icy and I took out the Heritage, it did a great job gripping in icy conditions. I was quite suprised. Vario Power Sidecut FTW!
If you've never used a rockered board in powder you should surely try one. Especially if you are riding wet powder. Nose stays above the snow and edge to edge response is great. I took this board out on a powder day and it killed everything I took it to. Though, this boards response is not nearly as good as it's older brother The Raptor in the pow, it can hold its own. It's great through the trees just found the 158 to be a bit long in tighter tree situations. I took it to an area with wider trees and the Heritage was so much fun. I had a huge grin on my face at the end of that day!
It dumped 30+cm of snow today... WOW, this board really handles it all. It did an amazing job through the trees, the deep pow. I floated effortlessly! It went through the trees easily, switching from edge to edge. The steeps were no match for this board either! I'm so impressed with this board, it's going to my 'goto' board!
If you really inclined to you can take this deck to the park. I prefer a shorter board in the park, but I did manage to hit a few booters, 50-50 and 5-0 a few boxes. No boardslides as the edges were insanely sharp straight from the factory. I didn't want to damage the board too! On the booters, this board was great. AWESOME ollie power. Spins are easy to do. Landings are SOLID. Unlike other rocker ONLY boards that if you land in the backseat too much you will most likely wash out. This board plants on the ground where you place it and stomps it out. Tail presses are easy to do with the rocker between your legs, but you still need to put effort in as the board is still stiff.
This is a board for someone who spends the majority of their time ripping down the mountain but also enjoys going to the park for a few hits. Make sure you match the board with a stiffer binding, this way you can really get the full power out of this deck! The Rocker and Camber together is the perfect combo. I think Never Summer has something special here. I've ridden the Skate Banana and I found it to be way TOO surfy, it's just too loose for me and too over the top. RC is a perfect balance, you get the best of both worlds! When you're riding the NS RC boards compared to a cambered board, you can notice the differences. Right away getting off the lift you will notice it takes way less effort to steer the board. Edge to edge transitions are quick and effortless! The Heritage is a charger with an added bit of playfulness to it. It's quite a bit softer than it's Carbonium brother, The Raptor. This is the perfect board for someone who loves to rip the grooms, the pow, hit natural features and enjoys a rare park day. Simply put, it's a versatile board that you can take anywhere. If I had only 1 board, this would definitely be at the top of the list.
