Anyone else interchange Burton bindings parts?

After using last year's P1's(Large), I got new boots('09 Burton Ruler, 10.5), and had to go to a medium size binding as the boots were way small in the large bindings.

I decided to save a few bucks and "step down" to the '09 Cartels. After comparing both binding models and sizes, I realized the straps on both are exactly the same size. Very adjustable but the same lengths and pretty much identical.
I decided to put the ankle straps from the P1's on the Cartels, and also switch the toe strap ratchets. The P1 ratchets seem a little beefier. Everything fits great and works perfectly.

Just curious if anyone else does anything similar to sort of "customize" their gear?
