K2 formula bindings heelback

So i picked up a pair of 2012 at end of that season and loved them. Rode them all of last year. I wen to pull board out to wax before my first trip finally (had a baby in december and couldn't do my monthly trips starting in october). Well I find that both heelbacks have split down the middle where they look to be fused together. I am pissed b/c looks like only have a 1 year warranty from date of purchase which is bullshiz. If i had gone in october would have found this problem but due to my circumstances didn't. I am hoping K2 will man up to the problem and help me with this issue. Anyone else have any problems with similar thing on any companies? I doubt i'll ever go with a plastic binding like this again. I have some burton p2's from first board luckily I don't sell any of my equipment I hold onto for others to borrow. They are 10 years old and still fully functional. I'm going to be livid if I'm just shit out of luck. I will def be switching companies if so.
