I think wakeboarding is much harder then snowboarding. Getting up is the hardest part, after that, just practice and keep on practicing. Plus I think you use so much more upper body.
My 9 year old learned Memorial weekend to wakeboard, she was up in like 5 tries. Her problem once going though was she wanted to try to go heal side which she favors when snowboarding. So in many ways it is easier to know how to wakeboard before learning to snowboard.
I suck at both wakeboarding and snowboarding but I love to try to get better at both sports.

I've tried waterskiing, but the in-laws boat broke down before I got to try wakeboarding.
I was hoping it would be similar to snowboarding since I sucked hard at waterskiing.

keep the handle pulled into your leading hip, don't hold it out in front of you. This will make it easier to be parallel to the rope, it is then more simple to edge.
also learn about progressive edge for when you start to jump (goooogle it)

|danielle||I would not lock anything. I keep everything bent, maybe arms locked straight but bend your knees and keep them bent.|

|danielle||Start working out your upper body. Make sure you use a board that goes with your size. Expect to fall just do not try to stand up to quick. Make sure you chip in money for gas if you are going with friends.|

advice from a rookie
lock your elbows to your knees and get to a plane on the water... before you try and stand up.
Once your going and want to do a trick or change hands bring the handle in tight to your center.
