Art_mtl Saturday at Sutton was crazy good too It snowed all day with wicked wind on top but everything stayed open all day and almost no line ups for lifts. We rode all day and I tried to spend most of it in the trees, fir sure it was the most snow there all season long. And everything in the trees was fresh almost no tracks. Hopefully we get some more before end of the season.

We spent Saturday at Jay Peak and it was absolutely INSANE. 14" of fresh the night before, and it was dumping snow all day. They closed the tram early, and even closed the Flyer and Bonaventure for awhile as we hit total white-out blizzard conditions. That forced everyone over to the Jet, and hour-long lines…so we had a Bloody Mary, then worked some of the glades closer to the bottom. Sure enough, while everyone was over at The Jet, Flyer opened up again. The wind up top was madness but the snow was absolutely incredible. I took a run down Northway to upper Milk Run and never saw a single person the entire way down. I'm not usually big on tree runs, but the snow was so deep and soft -- not heavy wet stuff -- that I found myself doing tight tree runs I always avoided before. The snow was so heavy, the wind so strong, that only the hardcore were left. My wife gave out early, couldn't take the harsh, and we took our gear off and sat in the lounge for a bit…then it kinda cleared up a little and I went back out until about 3:30. Some serious snow, and some of the best powder I'd ever ridden…since the day before at Sutton. What a trip!

surfinsnow What a day! Started out with a bit of rain at the bottom, and the snow was sooooo sticky! But it changed to snow pretty quick, then snowed all day, and it turned awesome. Untracked powder everywhere. I was doing trees and bumps -- and bumps in trees -- I'd never think of doing back in VT, mainly because no VT mountain has terrain like this. The groomed runs (only a handful during the week, I was told) were great. Rarely saw another person on a trail, most runs were completely alone in untracked powder. And more snow on the way!

surfinsnow We drove up this morning -- about five hours. We got to our inn about 11:30, too early to check in, but the owner gave us a voucher for 1/2 day, plus 2 more days (we'll also get tix to Jay Peak for our final day. Awesome! The place is practically walking distance to Sutton. We rode up to the mountain and exchanged our voucher for a 2 1/2 day pass while they got our room ready. Came back 1/2 hour later, they checked us in and we were on the mountain by about 12:45. Conditions are GREAT! No people...and now it's snowing, supposed to snow for a couple of days! Woohoo!

We only took a handful of runs, pretty beat after the drive, but so far I love this place! Narrow trails, lots of trees, not usually good for boarding, but the glades are spaced out beautifully. Tons of fun. We stayed on the right side (blues) to warm up. Hopefully we'll wake up to plenty of fresh and try out the black side tomorrow...and we still have Friday, then Saturday at Jay. Stoked!

Art_mtl Was there two weeks ago and we had good conditions then they got some snow during last week. Most likely will go there this weekend too.

SimonB I went there early February (not really recently but still...)

Most black runs at the far-left (looking at the map) were not groomed and were moguls. That lift was not running mid-week either, so it requires a short hike. Was not worth it at the time.

We had the most fun staying in the right-most part of the mountain (still looking at the map).

Hope you have a good time there!

Anyone been to Sutton recently?

Heading up early tomorrow morning. Hope to get a half-day in (our room comes with a 2 1/2 day pass). I was checking their web site and it's the first mountain I've ever seen that lists "packed powder, granular, moguls" as part of its conditions. Are they doing any grooming or will be riding icy moguls? I don't see any indications of grooming on their trail report.
