Aussie_Shred I also have a k2 turbo dream if the t rice is too short. Slightly larger board with a set back stance so I should be covered.

Not yet been to Japan, don't know the consistency of the snow there, but 155@81kg sounds like trouble if you ride terrain where you can't maintain a high speed to avoid sinking in...

He can still get a second, more suitable board for the pow trips - which I would consider, as there's nothing worse that having beautiful pow but can't enjoy due to the wrong board.
I've two boards I use for pow, same shape (RCR, tapered directional, big rocker nose; not pow boards, but freeride boards built to ride pow), 156 and 158 (@55kg): in steeps, it doesn't matter too much, but if it comes to crossing flats, already that plus of 2cm is recognizable (riding in vs. on pow).

And the 157 will be more stable at higher speeds.

Aussie_Shred Cheers everyone for the advice. I ended up shelling out a little extra and getting the horsepower model in a 155cm (you're not wrong about the top sheet btw ravaging rami). I considered the 157cm but I'm hoping the 155cm will be more versatile for me across a few different countries conditions. I was only considering the 153cm because of this review from the good ride (I also have size 9 boots) Lib Tech Travis Rice Horsepower Blunt 2014-2013 Buyers Guide. Really appreciate the spirited discussion, can always rely on this forum for gold old fashioned no bullshit advice! Can't wait to try it out. Many thanks!

Toothpick indeed. I still say 157 though. Nice find by the way.

I'm with ridinbend on this.
Where does he say that he is 5'11", 153 lbs?
He'd be a toothpick with those measurements btw...

Strange but I'm failing to see the part where he said anything about his weight.

Go with the 157 you won't be disappointed. Your gonna want the float in the jpow.

Steezus Christ id consider the 157. i ride a 161.5 as an all mountain board and im 90kg. it is not the most ideal in deep deep pow but everything else below 20cm it kills. in japan ur going to want to get as much float as possible.

Mizu Kuma Out of those two sizes I'd definitely go the 155, and seriously think about the 157!!!!! (Aussie conditions)

When I rode my TRice, I rode a 161.5 and I weigh in at ~ 88kg!!!!! (Aussie conditions)

Nothin worse than a board that sinks in Japanese Powder!!!!! Plus unless ya ridin the very steeps of Japan, ya gonna come across a lot of flat run outs where a longer board is gonna make life just that much sweeter!!!!!

On a side note, personally the TRice in the fresh stuff was the only place I liked it!!!!! I found the CRC to be somewhat squirrelly and unpredictable on hardpack if ya not on ya game!!!!!
