I don't have a ton of experience with pow specific decks living in new england but i have been expanding my quiver. Like Mr Birch i chose to add a more versatile freeride sorta board this year. I got the gnu billygoat c2btx. I haven't ridden it yet but i am assuming it will handle pow better than my all mountain freestyle board. It also has mellow magnetraction for the east coast ice. It seems that it is in some ways similar to the Yes PYL but has a different camber profile. Plenty of info and video reviews online for all different types of boards. Google is your friend.

I didn't want to go with a dedicated pow board since I wanted something I could use on the east coast as well and if a huge storm didn't roll through when I was there I didn't waste a lot of money.

A few other boards recommended for Utah by some very knowledgeable forum members were

K2 Ultradream
Billygoat
Salomon Assassin

What part of Florida you from? I'm originally from the Homestead and Miami area.
I'm right in Central Florida, Spent a whole bunch of time in south florida FTL area.

How is the Ride Slackcountry for the deeper stuff? I can pick one up relatively cheap 280 shipped for the 161.

Brewtown Proto is an awesome board, but yeah it seems pretty damn similar to the agent rocker. No judgement here, I usually like to carry a 2 or 3 board quiver and currently have 6, so I understand where you're coming from. Chances are you will like the Rome, but if you don't then you're probably not going to like the Proto any better. I would mix things up and look into either full reverse camber or hybrid camber (camrock).

I'm looking to sell my Yes The Greats just in case that's something that would interest you.

It's looking like the proto is 550ish. So, i'd like to stay under that if I can. Heck, I'll even go with last years model, doesn't matter to me! The more I save I can put towards an eaton truetrac on my truck hah.

Basically you already have a do-it-all board and you are considering getting another do-it-all board - and a really, really similar one at that.

Maybe I am a bit biased because I was comparing and researching exactly the same boards a while ago, but it makes no sense to me.
I think my biggest "concern" would be that I get out there and dislike the Agent, which is why I would want to have something as a secondary. (again I've never ridden it, just scooped it up bc it was an awesome deal). Guess I am just looking for a second opinion. Right now I'm having the "buy both, sell one" mentality. Hah.

I'm worried that the rome is not going to be as nimble and responsive as I want it to be. I've read mixed reviews on the Rome.

Either rocker or hybrid. Something a little softer than the agent. I've heard nothing but awesome things about the proto (not just from the NS fanboys), and wanted to see what the hype was about...BUT, wanted to check if there was something else I should be trying out.
