I don't think a bigger board will provide any more stability than a smaller board considering he's just starting out. IMO, the shorter, softer board will be more forgiving which may allow him to progress faster rather than getting frustrated and giving up on the sport with the bigger, less forgiving board.

Why would you say that? A bigger board would only be stiffer and more difficult to turn. So if he's just starting out, the 154 would be fine.

Jibfreak I've still got the WWW. It's a 2010 148, it's traditional camber though. Let me know if you're interested.

And yes, because of the design of the tip and tail this board has a much longer effective edge which allows you to size down. Let me know if you're interested.

that might be too small for him since he's just starting out.. i think a 157 might be better for him to progress on

YanTheMan Reguardless height doesnt have an effect on the flex you could apply. Physics wise weight is the biggest variable.

eh, you don't think board size has anything to do with height at all? I know weight is more important, but I mean my buddy is 6'1 (6 inches taller than me), but weighs the same as me. I think a 151 would be a little small for him, even though we weigh the same.
