I'm pretty sure I have the bindings picked out I was looking at Union Forces since atot of people here have been raving here that they are a great binding.
Before you go and pick them up, find a shop and test them out. Make sure they work well with your boots, especially the toe caps. Many people have a tendency to have them slip up, and when I tried them on in a local store they just didn't feel that secure. I much prefer Ride or Rome bindings, and would also consider some of the new K2 gear.

extra0 foot slide?...never thought about that

fsarfino I went yesterday and here is a few things that I noticed. My setup is lighter than my buddies new DC board not sure what the model is but is has a dead fox or cat on the base. Although thats prolly the only thing that makes my setup better lol. On my 3rd run down I went down a black diamond and made it down without a problem however I did have alot of edge chatter on that run so I'm thinking that the new boards are alot stiffer. I also wish that I had a new set of bindings the new setups just seem so much more stable and no foot slide like I have in my current baseless bindings.

Magnum626 I haven't been snowboarding seriously since 03-04. I now have a Never Summer Premier and the tech has changed but the basics are still there. I'm enjoying the new tech but not sure if I'm taking full advantage of it yet since I haven't ridden in powder. It's definitely more stable than my old Burton Custom with burton c14's from 02 but my Premier is stiffer too. I just wish the Premier was a bit lighter like my Custom but then I wonder if the SL-R is lighter. Heck before that I had a ride timeless with k2 clicker bindings. I have Targas on mine and the toe cap makes it soo much more comfortable as well.

I'd say demo as many boards as you can to see if there's something you like.

arsenic0 Its far from up to date, but as you said it worked back then so it will work now.

You wont get all the luxuries that have become mainstream now adays in snowboarding, but you'll be able to get down the hill

fsarfino thanks for the info. I figure for this season it will be good enough to see if I wanna get back into it. When I was riding I rode this setup at Bear Mountain,Snow Summit,Jackson Hole, and a few places in Idaho so I would hope it would be ok for a hill in Wisconsin.

extra0 from what I've read, baseless bindings turned out to be not such a great idea because there's no dampening for landings and chop riding in general...actually pretty much everything about bindings has changed drastically since 95. You're gonna want to get new bindings, for sure.

I would imagine your 1995 board might be heavier/chunkier, especially in the nose and tail (they're thinned out for spin weight on modern boards). Does your board have cap construction instead of sidewall construction (dampening)? Most decent boards today have sidewall construction. Were they using carbon stringers back then? Carbon helps with "pop" (bounce back) for ollies and stuff.

Yes, I'd say tech has changed significantly since 95. If yours was a mid-high end board from the early 2000s, that'd be a different scenario.

How much has technology changed ?

I'm going snowboarding tomorrow and I haven't ridden for maybe 10 years my current setup is a 157 Silence that is from 95' with baseless bindings. I've looked at new boards and they almost look identical to what I have now except for the bindings. Has board technology changed quite a bit since then or is alot of it hype ?
