Marumm There's generally always a compromise between selection and price when you wait. Everything might be 70% in June, but it'll all be ugly colors in kid sizes. I like Feb/Mar/early April for the best balance of goods at competitive prices, but you also have to consider the opportunity cost of not being able to use your gear this season.

Of course, if you don't feel any urgency or have a pressing need, then by all means wait for a better deal.

tooscoops yeah, all the tent stuff.. they'll generally do a week or two giving 10-20% off the new years stuff while at the same time dropping last years down to 50% off or so.

the deals are obviously better on older stock. do some research on what boards you'd like and see if much changed year to year other than graphics. some boards are better to fork over the extra cash, others, might as well save the scratch and take last years model.

karmatose The shoppe in my town has a massive tent sale in the summer too. I already have a decent setup, but I'd love to try and snag myself a Scallywag at a decent price. But from what I've seen markdowns at the end of a season and into the summer are steeper than the ones at the start of the next. People want to buy at the start of a season, whereas at the end of one, most don't.

I live in Limerick, we're almost neighbors! But I think I'm going to pull the trigger now on some Rome 390s.

killclimbz Pretty much all of the stuff sold in the Fall is from the previous season. I've also noticed the best deals are generally at the end of the season. The retailers know they can get a bit more for inventory in the Fall so they don't necessarily try to sell it for as steep as a discount as they did in the Spring.

Preseason vs postseason sales

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as preseason sales and if so, are they next years models or just the left overs? I want to pick up a new set of bindings but I'm in no rush. A lot of sites have already started their postseason sales but nothing jumps out at me as a "must have". So I'm debating on waiting to see whats coming out next year and if there is such a thing as preseason sales on that stuff.
