WHAT UP!!!! New snowboarding fam in Minnehaha!!!!

WHAT UP!!!! New snowboarding fam in Minnehaha!!!!

So, we moved to Minnesota in 2005 and it's taken us 4 years to finally "man-up" and brave the winter. We went snowboarding enough last season to realize we love it so now we're in the process of buying all new gear for the family.

My wife and son are all geared up sooooo NOW it's my turn......

I'm 6'1, 235 lbs and a beginner. Everyone tells me I need a board that is 160" or longer. However, I'm thinking it would be much easier to learn on a shorter board. I'm thinking 150-153"!

Any suggestions would be much appreciated....
