Donutz Fogg, the rub-on waxes aren't worth their weight in used toilet paper. Stick with hot waxing. Regardless of extruded or sintered base, if you're riding on crud you'll need to wax more often. If you don't, you'll find performance suffering a bit, but you won't just fall over. If you're sufficiently new, you won't be able to tell the difference.

Waxing a board is incredibly easy. Just need to have the time. I wax my own board, and I do it every 3rd or 4th session -- but we had pretty good snow.

Foggdogg Leo, i have a question for you regarding the extruded base on the k2 raygun. When you say that it needa to be waxed before every session, do you mean "hot" waxed"? Forgive my noobness.

Also has anyone had any experience with the Stepchild Powder Sucks? It got a TW Good Wood and its listed as a perfect Middle of the road board with a price tag under $400.

Pixel8tedOne My local guys said the same thing about the Raygun/CC comparison, as we're up in Maine riding on crap usually. They said that while the Raygun is great, it's only shortfalls start popping up on icy hardpack, the Magnetraction will slice through that stuff no problem.

Leo Yea, do the CC since you do a lot of crud riding. It will definitely handle that stuff well. The Raygun is the better powder shape, but the CC is no slacker either with its banana rocker.

Leo.. I do have one more question regarding those boards before we wrap this up.

So im on the East Coast (RI) and the place where ive been riding has been mostly hard packed, groomed and loose granular. But and pow happens around here too.. So im wondering if the Raygun is really the board for me. Im wondering if the GNU CC is probably the best bet!?

Or maybe another board that will do well in all of those conditions. Opinions?

Pixel8tedOne Totally agree with Leo on the 390/390 Boss. I threw a pair of 390's on my legacy and had the shop also add in the canted foot beds that you find in the boss and they are riding really well. They are super comfortable and responsive, and they didn't loosen up a bit through my first couple days out.

Same thing as with the NS boards, if you look around you can find this years 390's at some great prices and then price match them lower.

Leo K2 Uprise Mens Snowboard Bindings 2011

Good affordable bindings. Much better than the Missions in my opinion. The setup takes some time to adjust, but once you do, strapping in from that point on will be a breeze. The toe strap will tighten as you crank the ankle strap.

Another great pair of bindings would be Rome 390 or 390 Boss. The boss has canted footbed options which are really comfy once you find the right cant for your stance.
