IdahoFreshies if is blistering cold i will have a fleece as a middle layer under my jacket, but usually its warm enough and i get hot enough riding i just have my outer, even half unzipped some of the time, however its a fairly thick jacket. But fleeces are very warm for their small size. You can always bring it and not use it, but if its cold, that one fleece layer can make your day go from cold and miserable to comfortable and warm.
