You should get yourself a split too. Seems to me with a sled and a split it would be pretty easy to knock off Baker in a day...

you can ride to the crater on your sled in about 1.0 hours from the truck..

I assume these guys have experience, avy gear, and go with other guys that know what they are doing.

Sorry if I sound like your mom or something, but I always wanted to do this stuff too, but the more you learn, the more you realize it can be pretty dangerous and you really need to know what you are doing. I am starting out small with some avy gear and learning more while sticking to the slack country.

what he said, kinda...
get your backcountry gear.. beacon, probe, shovel.. make sure your whole crew has it all and knows how to use it..
there are a bunch of mellow places to learn how to sled without danger actually. you HAVE to learn how to sled before even thinking about boarding.. unless you just want to ride the road to some area and split (i'm lazy and can actually just ride to the top of most peaks i want to shred)

its real deal backcountry, no controlled areas so we rely on forcast's and better judgement as to what aspects to stay off of.. generally living in washington though, we have it good when it comes to stability, that's not to say shit doesn't go down here its just a bit more safe than say, Colorado or Utah..

google "snowmobile rentals" several places do it. also some of these places will rent and take you out for a safe ride. "Cascade Playtime" in Ronald, Wa. out by Salmon La Sac is a good place to start.

KillClimbz - i have a handful of sled buddies that have splits too. they days they plan on doing split adventures i go ride with others.. they have splits cuz they ride sleds like girls :P

WasatchMan I second schmitty's post. It's not that easy, you don't just rent a snowmobile and head into the mountains.

Seriously, read up more.
